Excerpt:

He slowly raised his eyes to mine; the look I saw there caused a shiver to run down my arms, prickling my skin. I pulled my arms tight to my chest, attempting to stop the cold feeling from spreading.

"You have to get out of here, now!" he gasped.

"Dan, what happened?"

He shook his head and looked at the floor.

"Tell me!"

"There is no time, they are coming for you.”

Lady A was an interesting story. I was intrigued by the premise of the main character suffering from temporary amnesia, and I think that made it entertaining, getting to know the heroine at the same time and pace she's learning about herself. There's both action and romance (very clean and, just as with the first in series, geared towards young teens), as well as intrigue (will she be able to get her memories back in time?) and a bit of suspense.

The narrator was great and I think was part of the reason why I enjoyed it as much as I did. She brought all the characters to life, from adults like the king and queen, as well as tweens like Prince James' sister. I liked the voice for Lady A since it was smooth while also having hints of amusement. However, I also think there's room for improvement with the male voices since at times it was difficult to track who was speaking, especially when it was James with all his friends. Still, for the most part she nailed all the nuances of the story (from dread to eagerness, confusion, hopefulness and everything in between).

Overall, another "not your typical princess" story by author Cassie M Shiels that can truly be read as a standalone since there are no ties to the previous story. Recommended to fans of the author, "princess" stories, or people looking for a story with action and romance that are more on the lighter side. ~ 4 stars

Content: romance: a couple kisses.
Violence: there are plenty of sword fights and as a result some people die, but it's never described/on-page.

Intriguing premise, good narrator :)
