Tourmens est un hôpital public. On y reçoit et on y soigne tout le monde, sans discrimination et avec bienveillance. Mais les préjugés envers son approche féministe et inclusive des soins et de l’enseignement sont tenaces. Depuis sa création, en 2024, les hommes qui s’enrôlent à l’École des soignantes du CHHT n’ont jamais été nombreux : l’année où j’ai commencé ma formation, j’étais l’un des rares inscrits. J’espère que nous ne serons pas les derniers.
Je m’appelle Hannah Mitzvah. Aujourd’hui, 12 janvier 2039, je commence ma résidence. L’officiante de l’unité à laquelle je suis affecté se nomme Jean ("Djinn") Atwood. C’est une figure légendaire de la santé des femmes. Je me demande ce qu’elle fait chez les folles.
