About this listen

In the wild heart of the American frontier, young Silas loses everything—but finds a new life among the Lakota. Taken in by a warrior and raised in a world far from the one he knew, he earns a new name: Kohana, the quick one.

As he grows, so do the tensions between his past and present, between two names, two cultures, and one unforgettable love.

Kohana: The Name He Earned is a moving short story of identity, belonging, and the quiet strength it takes to choose your own path.

Wow, what a story! It is amazing how it managed to fit so much symbolism and learning into a book which takes less than an hour to listen to. It is interesting, at times heart wrenching and beautifully written throughout without being "preachy" or condescending. I think most people will find elements from the story that they can relate with even though none of us are Lakota and that's what makes it so powerful. I can't wait to read more from the author!

Simply wonderful
