Da wo später das Kloster Theres errichtet wurde, zwischen Haßfurt und Schweinfurt, lag vor alten Zeiten ein stattliches Schloss, welches dem Babenberger Grafen Adalbert gehörte und den Namen Sonderishus führte; und dort habe Adalbert ein Kloster gegründet. Alte Geschichtsschreiber haben ausgesagt, dass Graf Adalbert, der durch den schändlichen Verrat des Mainzer Bischofs Hatto in seines Feindes Gewalt gekommen war, dort in seinem eigenen Haus enthauptet worden sei.
