Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of Klopp: Bring the Noise by Raphael Honigstein, read by Adam James.

'I like the total intensification, when there are crashes and bangs everywhere, pure adrenaline and no one being able to breathe.'

Jürgen Klopp's super-sized personality and all-or-nothing style of football and management made him the perfect choice to pump up the volume at Anfield. The appointment sparked hysteria in the city, with fans and club officials delighted to get the coach they'd long admired from afar and eager to see the impact he would have on the club and the Premier League.

With exclusive access to Klopp's friends, family, colleagues and players, Raphael Honigstein goes behind-the-scenes at Liverpool, Mainz and Dortmund to tell the definitive story of Klopp's career, transformative footballing genius and how he is bringing the noise to Anfield.

Klopp's the manager to turn players into winners, to get that little bit more from them and transform teams like mid-table Borussia Dortmund into title winners and one of Europe's most acclaimed sides in just two seasons.

He's authentic, approachable and funny, charming media and fans alike. He's also merciless and exceptionally driven, his quick temper bubbling away barely under the surface.

Expectations have been high and even when results haven't gone their way, Liverpool's exciting football and Klopp's pitch-side passion have enthralled, culminating in a triumphant return to Champions League football.

Klopp follows his story from its Black Forest beginnings, as a player with 'fifth division skills and a first division brain', his accidental fall into management and the success at Mainz and Dortmund which paved the way to Anfield.

Good

The narrator’s pronunciation of German was poor, though the rest was fine. Otherwise a good introduction to Klopp.

excellent book

Great insight into the force of nature that is Klopp. Only one word of warning for him. He needs the Plan B. Chasing a game at any level needs the option of the big man up front and packing the box looking for knock downs. No defence likes an aerial bombardment. Added to the pressure and possession his teams create it completes the toolbox of how to break down defences. It's why his cup final record is not great. However, you can see clearly why players want to play for him and why LFC is the perfect club for him.

Magnificent journey

I signed up to Audible specifically for this audio book. I had heard amazing things about the book but unfortunately couldnt get my hands on it, impatience coupled with current lockdown brought me to here. An absolutely superb listen and journey through Klopp's life. I understand all the hype it received now and I highly recommend it aswell, I'm already looking forward to listening to it again.

Well Researched and Written - Poorly Pronounced

This is a well-researched and written biography of the German maestro revolutionising Liverpool FC and dragging the Reds back into relevancy on the English and European football stages.
Digging deep into Jürgen's Schwabian roots and even the background of his parents, getting the inside story from family members, schoolmates, coaches and colleagues, this is a must-listen for all Liverpool fans and football enthusiasts.

The one major problem for me is the narrator's inability to pronounce German words and names. As you might imagine, this is something fairly significant considering the subject matter! The performance is otherwise very good, so if you can forgive (or even don't notice) this fault, then go ahead and enjoy this excellent production.

Boring, too much back & forward for me.

Too much backwarding and forwarding for me.
Not enough Liverpool too much German football which I have never ever followed or even had the incline to do so.
I found it very boring in places, but then I do prefer a exciting adventure fiction or a good story, but has it's Klopp I thought I would give it a go and some of it I found interesting and have ganged a better understanding of Klopp, but I am afraid that some of it was beyond me having no understanding of German football, beyond their better teams that Liverpool have played in European football & I was getting very confused with all the going back and Forwards again.
The reader did not exactly keep me enthralled either.

Great book poor narration

Interesting book on one of the most remarkable individuals from world football but the narration sounds over eager with tell tale signs that the person doesn’t follow football.

Rafa could’ve done a reading on his iPhone and it would be ten times better.

What a pity.

Deep understanding into a great man's way of life

Great book and it gives a deep understanding into a great man's way of life

As LFC fan now it is much clearer how and why Jurgen Klopp acts as he does and what values he stands for. I am deeply greatful for having him as LFC manager.
