About this listen

1990. On the luxurious private island of Angel Cay, four privileged students toast the end of their exams. Self-assured Miles, clever Grace, talented Alex and beautiful Sasha have the world at their feet. But one dark night will change their perfect lives forever. As the friends move into glamorous careers – fashion, music, politics – each tries to put the past behind them. But no matter how far their stars rise, they cannot escape the dreadful truth. And when the consequences of that night finally catch up with them, for one of the four, there is a terrible price to be paid…

Terrible accents as well as dreadful ‘pitchy’ tones, totally the wrong narrator for this book.

Narration poor.

I’m sure the book would have been great as I’ve enjoyed all of the others by Tasmina Perry that I’ve listened to, but I couldn’t finish it unfortunately as the narrator sounds like she’s reading a book to children and it put me right off!

Awful narrator

Only thing that confuses a little is the voice of the men all sound the same. Voices of female characters and overall narration good, but voices of the men could have been better. Think narrator needs to avoid multiple male characters in same scenes as hard to differentiate until 'said miles' etc but overall is still worth a listen.

Very good listen

I know this is probably more of a summer read, but it was just the thing I needed to get me through cold miserable London mornings - sex, glamour, scandal, mystery... what's not to love! Perhaps her best yet?

Brilliant

Feel very similar to one of the other reviewers. The book was good, up to normal Tasmina Perry standard and pure escapism. However the narrator also grated on me after a while, very deep voices for men, very squeaky voices for the women. Started off finding it quite funny, but it's a long book...

Trashy chick lit with odd narration
