Summary
In this audio-first rom com by #1 New York Times bestselling author Lauren Blakely, a scorching one-night stand with a stranger turns into a deliciously forbidden romance...
My first evening in London feels like kismet when I bump into a charming, book-loving Englishman, and by the end of the night, he’s making me see stars. I’m floating when we make plans to meet again.
Then fate decides to pull a fast one on me.
Turns out, my smoldering new lover is my red-hot competition, and we’re vying for the same promotion at the elite auction house I crossed an ocean for.
If that’s not enough, the hottie and I are forced to work together on a brand new collection. Every. Single. Tempting. Day.
What's an American woman in London to do?
Staying far, far away would be the safe choice, especially when I learn about his past and how it mirrors mine. But I don’t always play it safe with my heart…

Disappointing
What I was hoping for was a good romance and, while this wasn’t a terrible romance, it was let down by either the author or the publisher thinking a story can’t be a good one without over descriptive sex scenes every five minutes.
Take them away and you have quite a short story that seemed to have romantic promise but didn’t quite live up to it.
If this is typical of Lauren Blakey, I don’t think I will bother reading this author again. So glad it was included in plus rather than one I had actually paid extra money for.

Easy listening, lovely story.
I really enjoyed listening to this story. No real drama just a sweet love story with a happy ending. Some days this is just what you need to listen to!

3.5 stars. The story is sugary sweet, no angst, no drama. Excellent narration. Just what I needed today.

Loved the duo!
“Kismet” by Lauren Blakely is a captivating romance set in London, where two protagonists unexpectedly find themselves competing for the same promotion in the art world. Blakely skillfully navigates moral dilemmas and portrays the characters’ journey of self-discovery amidst the backdrop of the bustling city. With its engaging storyline and well-developed characters, “Kismet” is a delightful read for fans of contemporary romance.

Heartwarming story
I loved Heath and Jo's love story. Honestly I didn't know what this book was about. I downloaded it because Shane East narrated it. He's quickly become one of my favourite narrators. And he didn't disappoint in his performance. He played the charming, nerdy, reserved Englishman so well. I don't think I've listened to anything by Julia Whelan, the female narrator, but I thoroughly enjoyed her performance as well. Honestly, she played Heath so well, we could almost have done without Shane East. Almost. I love art, so maybe that's partly why I was so drawn into this story. I love the romance. There was no angst in this. They were two adults who tried to keep things platonic for the sake of an uncomplicated work environment but quickly realised that it ridiculous to fight their feelings. They're similar in the best ways but different enough to keep the relationship fresh and interesting. The character were written so well. They have solid personalities and they're very likeable. I would totally date heath and be friends with Jo. We meet some interesting side characters as well. The author made it really easy to visualise the different scenes in the story. I could totally see them admiring exhibitions at the Tate strolling along the Thames, relaxing in the pub. It was a great experience listening this book.
*one content warning, though. There's mention of spousal loss in this book.

Grumpy/Sunshine
Fantastic narration that captures your attention instantly and keeps it while bringing the characters to life!!!
Jo and Heath's story is full of witty banter, laughter, found family, opportunities, emotional moments, tension, electric chemistry and so much more. Fate seems to be playing with them... Will they admit their true feelings for one another?... Could they actually find a path to happiness together?...

Not funny at all and terrible male narrator
The story is predictable and the zingers don’t zing. The woman narrator improves it but the male voice is so corny and desperate sounding it’s cringey

Kismet Review
I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful love story from the beginning and it was a wonderful that both Jo and Heath ended up at the same company. I was so happy that the ending was good.
The story was enjoyable and a perfect escape for me.

I’m in love with this story
I got the book because it was free on catalogue plus and was set in London. But, from chapter 1 I just loved the story. It is beautifully romantic, funny and sarcastic at times as well as it has some steamy moments sprinkled in to complete the amazing tale of 2 lonely people that meet by chance and fall head over hells for each other, whilst navigating the hurdles in their way. He is grumpy and she is pure sunshine, their sexual tension was something else. Loved every second of this book and the narration was so amazing that made the story even better. Julia and Shane did the author proud with their performance.
