Summary

History’s most dangerous outlaw.

England’s most famous ruler.

The year’s most exciting adventure.

The third crusade is over. Richard the Lion heart is bound for England. But with the princes of Europe united against him, can the greatest warrior in Christendom make it safely home?

The Lion is Chained. Captured. Bound. Imprisoned. King Richard's slim hope of salvation rests on one man - a former outlaw who scoffs at Holy Mother Church: Robin Hood. For King and country, Robin will risk all - from blood-soaked battlefields to deadly assassins - to see the Lion heart restored to his rightful throne.

From the internationally best-selling author of Outlaw and Holy Warrior comes a spectacular saga of courage and comradeship that brings the medieval world to roaring life.

A Series to Binge On!

It's all I can do not to just order the entire series and binge on it all the way through and it just seems to get better and better. It's seen through the eyes of a now ageing Alan Dale as he casts his mind back to his younger years to set down the tales of his adventures with a very gritty Robin of Loxley. From the opening part of the actual tale Donald sets the tone expertly.

This Robin isn't quite the loveable rogue of the traditional tales about him. He does have many of the attributes of that green-clad fantasy bowman but he's also greedy at times, vicious and will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. Here Donald pits him and Alan Dale into a thrilling adventure. You're left in no doubt from the start about just how gritty these tales are willing to get and Mike Rogers is well-suited to bringing Alan's tale to life.

An excellent series with really enjoyable characters that I don't think it will take me too long to get through!

A very good story

Held me right to the end lots of twists and turnes. Robin Odo (Hood) always makes a cracking tale

The grittyness of this tale makes you rearly believe in him and how it rearly was in those days and not all gentleman jim stuff. also what put the iceing on the cake for me was the narrator Mike Rogers

Thanks again.

The series just gets better

This is a wonderful book. The story is face paced and engaging. There is one or two twists, which I enjoyed. I am from Nottingham and so know many of the locations mentioned, which gives the story and extra edge of authenticity. The narration was first class, Mike Rogers accents where great and true to the area. Cant wait to hear more.

Completely absorbing

I’ve spent hours with Alan, fighting for king, country and beliefs. I’ve shared his passions;watched with horror;laughed at life’s challenges and been outraged at dishonourable actions.
Thank goodness for audible books in this crazy year of 2020. This in fact these...cause there is a series of them...yippee...are a tonic of escapism. Enjoy!

Was surprised by the change of narrator but he’s great and the book itself is yet another great one in the series can’t wait to start the next

One BIG MISTAKE,

Why did you replace the narrator with Mr Rogers( an excellent narrator by the way) whose voice seems much younger than the original one. His voice seems like a 35 year old and not that of a 70 year old.

Easy to listen too and great story

What made the experience of listening to King's Man the most enjoyable?

It was such an unusual combination of characters who became more and more plausible as the story developed.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the imaginative way the author wove the legend of Robin Hood into the factual account of Richard the Lionheart's imprisonment and subsequent ransom.

Have you listened to any of Mike Rogers’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No but I intend to!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes although couldn't so it took a couple of days

Any additional comments?

Thank you for including it in your list.

It does what it says on the tin...

If you like your Robin Hood Romantic then maybe not for you...

It is an interesting left field take on a great story.

Another fabulous story

I wasn’t sure if I liked the new narrator but I soon adjusted and actually think he might be better than the first novel. Really enjoyed the story telling again, great series!
