From USA Today best-selling author Katie Reus, a sexy romantic suspense novella....
Journalist Eve Newman stumbles across the murder of a prominent member of her west Texas town and finds herself the target of a shadowy killer. When the body goes missing and the police don’t believe she saw it happen, she turns to the only man in town she can trust: her deceased brother’s best friend.
Former Marine Macklin Quinn has been half in love with Eve since they were kids, but he’s always considered her off-limits. When she turns to him for help he can’t send her away. Within 24 hours it’s clear she’s in trouble and someone wants her dead. Mac will do everything in his power to keep the feisty journalist alive and help her bring down the killer. And if they can stay alive long enough, he’ll do whatever it takes to convince her they’re meant to be together.

Very entertaining and short enough that I listened to this audiobook in one sitting narrated by one of my favorite narrator.
A great Novella, well worth listening to!
Mac and Eve have known each other since they were kids, he realised he had a thing for her when he was 18 and she was 16, but of course he knew he could never touch her as she was his best friends little sister. Eve has had a thing for Mac for what seems like forever but he had never shown that kind of interest in her and she didn’t want to do anything to ruin their friendship so kept those feelings to herself, until one night when she found herself in danger and knew he was the only one who could help her.
As they both knew each other and already had feelings this cannot be termed as insta-love but it did seem to happen quick, but then this is only a novella so it had to be, having said that for a novella it sure did have a lot of content which was full of both romance and suspense. As with all Katie Reus stories this was easy to read and the story flowed well keeping us on the edge of our seats right until the end wondering who was the killer and the person trying to see her dead!
I was given a free audio copy by the author with the request to leave a review, but it was not a condition and not compulsory to do so. The story was read by Jeffrey Kafer who in my opinion did a good job.
