Summary

Chloe Cook is back with another case to crack!

When a loudmouthed, egotistical comedy club owner is found dead, Chloe's once sleepy hometown of Cape Cod is rocked to the core. Even worse, the police think one of Chloe's best friends is the killer.

Lovely !

As usual Kayla Michelle writing is great, fun, logic and simple to understand.
Coupled with narrator Renee Dorian Begley works perfectly for the creation of this joy of an audiobook.
All I’ll say is that it’s impossible not to love her short stories but here lays the problem, as good as it is it’s too short which is why a box set would be a great idea ( my belief ).

Do I recommend this audiobook?
Absolutely without hesitations !!!

Quirky Makeup Specialist Becomes PI

When your best friend is accused of murder it’s time to help the police detective since she has twice before. The list of suspects is large and now it’s time to catch a killer. Recommend.

Good Clean Cozy Mystery

Book 3 in the Chloe Cook series, but it great as a stand alone. Chloe tries to solve the murder as an amateur sleurh. This is based on her hometown of Cape Cod. Chloe's friend Hope has been arrested for murder. The night before she was to go out with friends and cancelled at the last minute. Detective Todd Thicke feels the case is closed. He feels i is cut and dry. Hope was alone at work and went home alone. Her boss is murdered. Hope has no alibi. Chloe although an amateur has a good track record of solving crimes previously. Chloe has to work hard to solve this murder without the help of Detective Todd's help. There are many twists as in all mysteries and people lying to protect or cover themselves. This is a good clean cozy mystery you have to read or listen to to see whodunit. The characters are believable and interesting. I recommend this book.

Pastries and Perfidy

The large cast of potential criminals, each with quirky personalities, would be a casting director's dream were this a Jessica Fletcher mystery on TV--although Jessica's interrogation technique is more concerned, grandmotherly questions than our heroine's acerbic attack. A Peter Falk focus on the one odd detail helps solve the crime, although I personally found the clue too obscure to have picked up. (Hey, I'm just an armchair detective, right? Don't even play one on TV.) Narrator Renee Dorian Begley seemed an apt choice for our food-obsessed heroine and her knack for crimesolving.

Not for me

I love cozy mysteries and if done correctly they are great to listen to or read. Sometimes this genre does not have everything going for it like you know who the murder is early on in the book but it has something else going that makes you want to read it. An example would be that it is really funny so you would not really care if you knew who did it.
This unfortunately, does not have anything that makes you want to read on.
I found the character to be unbelievable and I was surprised that the other characters actually told her things when they did not need to since she was not a cop. And the things she said to the dective at the beginning I found that really hard to believe.
Also what does the dog in the cover have to do with the story because I don't remember the dog being mentioned in the book which shows that if the author did mention it it was insignificant.
This book is not for me but others might like it more than I did.
The narrator was OK but I would have liked more emotion put into the characters.

Murder Isn't Funny

When Chloe's friend, and for a short time Chloe herself are suspects in the murder of a local comedy club owner, it's up to the sleuth to figure out whodun it.
A fun murder mystery with a victim nasty enough, it's hard to feel too badly about her demise and to make you willing to believe any of the suspects might have done it. A great read for a lazy afternoon and Renee Dorian Begley's melodious voice makes the Audible version a pleasure to listen to.

A cute cozy mystery

A “not so nice” comedy club owner is murdered and the list of suspects is quite long. When Chloe finds out her best friend is at the top of the list, she takes on the task of solving the case.

While the sleuthing is not always realistic, it still made for an entertaining story.

The narration was well done by Renee Dorian Begley.
