About this listen

In 1992, Victor Bockris's celebrated biography was the first to recognise Richards's pivotal role in the legend of the Rolling Stones. Now that book on rock's most incredible survivor has been expanded. Here are the true facts behind Richards' battles with his demons: the women, the drugs and the love-hate-relationship with Jagger. His struggle with heroin and his status as the rock star most likely to die in the 1970s. His scarcely believable rebirth as a family man in the 1980s. Illuminated with revealing quotes and thoughtful insights into the man behind the band that goes on forever.©2006 Victor Bockris. First published in 1992. This edition 2013 Omnibus Press. Critic reviews

"It is quite simply a fascinating portrayal of one of rock ’n’ roll’s greatest living legends." (Express UK)

This is a really beautifully written biography with a philosophical, poetic air. This comes mainly from Bockris' superb writing but also the smooth narration by Adrian Mulraney. Its not just a profile of Richards life but also a portrait of the UK through the late 50s - 70's. Thats the added bonus of a well written biog. it conjures a world and immerses you fully in the times of the protagonist. Keith was partly able to survive the craziness by his lack of demons, whilst many of his acolytes fell along the way trying to emulate his hedonistic - fu#k you attitude.

A typical English lad - defined by America
