I missed the first book in this series but from this I got a lot of enjoyment. Lina and Nico were childhood friends before Lina disappeared for about a decade and when they get back together it's go fo fo. There's potentially triggering material contained within so be careful. 3.5 stars

I enjoyed this second book of the series featuring the son of the couple from the first book. I liked the friends-to-lovers/second chance romance energy of this one. The main characters met as young teens and while that time in their lives together was unexpectedly short, it was meaningful. When they meet again as adults it’s out of the blue and far from ideal circumstances. I liked how they got a real chance to get to know each other and reestablish their connection. The feelings were certainly simmering under the surface the whole time, but it wasn’t a rush to the physical and I think that’s just what this story and situation called for. Their overall journey to a well-deserved and satisfying ending was a pleasure to listen to. Their narrators were a big part of that pleasure, delivering a great performance. I certainly would be happy to check out more stories by this author or these narrators. And with the way this one ended, it provided a great set up for book three.

Selena was rescued by Nicolas parents from human trafficking.
They have been trying to get Constantine for human trafficking, but he's slippery.
Nicolas and Selena had a tight connection and he was devastated when her mum eventually came for her.
But everything isn't as it seems.
A great story I loved the characters and the storyline.

Nico has been looking for Selina since she left his home. As teenagers, they were in love and when she went missing, he never gave up looking for her. He never thought he would find her in his family's enemies clutches! Now he has her back, and after all she has been through, she is still the one for him. The two work through so much as she learns to live without fear. But does she ever really relax and find that ease? Loving Nico is easy, but the fear of being taken again is always in the back of her mind. Angela Snyder finds a way to crawl into my mind as these two get back together. I constantly was on edge waiting for the shoe to drop and when it does, and I know I wasn't prepared for the results. Now I need the next book! I am so happy for Nico and Lena, but I am still worried for what is to come. Cannot wait to hear it!

Alan Stone and Stella Rose give a fantastic performance as Nico and Selina. Stone as Nico is warm, patient and loving when it comes to his woman. He pulls out the d anger when it comes to anyone who is after her. Rose is fabulous as Selina. She is strong yet vulnerable, trusting yet scared. I love the way she finds the bravery in Lena. Together they create an amazing listen.
