Summary
Karl der Große sah sich als Nachfolger der Cäsaren. Er erlangte als erster europäischer Herrscher seit dem Untergang des Römischen Reiches die Kaiserwürde. Mit der Einigung und Ausdehnung seines riesigen Reiches verlangte er sowohl seinen Untergebenen als auch den Nachbarvölkern einen hohen Blutzoll ab. Sein Todestag jährte sich im Jahre 2014 zum 1200. Male.
