About this listen

Killian
When I’m tossed into the trunk of a car, I realize that what little luck I have has finally run out—especially when I find that Tony, the man who’d abducted me, is planning on using me to get back at my father. My chances for escape look pretty bleak when I’m handcuffed to Tony’s bodyguard, an intimidating man named Shepherd who apparently loves tight shirts and seems to be amused by making my life miserable. Soon, though, I learn that Shepherd has a heart and a brain. And sometimes, those two things can be a bigger weapon than anything in a time like this. I just have to learn how to wield them.

After Shepherd gets me away from Tony’s men, I discover that he’s a survivor, a fighter, and the only person who seems willing to help me when it feels like the whole world is against me. At first, I’m not sure if I can trust the man, but the more we get to know each other, the more I realize that he’s funny and kind of sweet. He’s determined to protect me, but he doesn’t know all of my secrets. He doesn’t know that Tony isn’t the only one looking for me. But together, as we face betrayal and taking down the worst monster of all, we’re determined that we will be the lucky ones after all.

Just My Luck is a 101k word book featuring two broken souls who find peace in each other. While it does have a mixture of action, humor, and Alice’s trademark snarky banter, there are moments that might be considered darker to some listeners.

An amazing story by Alice Winters that runs the gammet of emotions. Fear, happiness, love all runs through this novel. Declan Winters' narration brings this intricate, winding story to life so brilliantly. Absolute must read/listen.

Another great story from Alice winters.
Really good narration brought the characters to life.
Not my favourite book to date from the author but still very enjoyable and I would definitely recommend it.

Enjoyable story

Just another Alice winters book that’s got it all, like Declan winters narrating it in his dulcet tones -

I love the humour, made me laugh out loud, which is a hard thing to do when listening to an audio book

Alice Winters is one crazy writer. I think I cried with LOL for the first 8-10 chapters, though the story was interspersed with LOL moments to the very end. The 2 main characters have an irreverent ‘rapport’ (snark). Declan Winters gave a great performance with good comedic timing.

Insanely funny!

OK'ish narration, suitable for a not very good story. It must be hard to knit fog, as this is how clear this story is. The action flits between past and now. An unlikable kid already living in turmoil, is kidnapped into another type turmoil. At times I wonder if the humour is intentional or just another symptom of a badly written tale.

Gave up 4 hours in, as no clarity and target was in sight and felt the story was going round in circles.

I am disappointed as I've had exciting action adventures by this author before. Give this one a miss.

DISAPPOINTING. DNF. RTND
