Summary

The number-one New York Times best-selling author shares the secret of his success and teaches you how to achieve the blessed, full life that belongs to you.

On January 13, 2016, at the close of a taping of Family Feud, Steve Harvey spontaneously began to speak. Not knowing that the cameras were still rolling, the $100 million host offered his studio audience insights into his own happiness and success. His staff, also moved by Steve's passionate words, shared the riveting six-minute video on social media. The clip immediately went viral, with more than 58 million views worldwide!

In this very personal and illuminating guide, the number-one New York Times best-selling author elaborates on those spontaneous remarks. His message is simple: You need to JUMP like your life depends on it - because it does - if you truly want a life of peace and abundance.

Jump explores seven vulnerable "seasons" in the Emmy Award-winner's life: being homeless and living out of his car, flunking out of college, enduring the emotional turmoil of a second failed marriage, risking stability to pursue his dream of television stardom, overcoming the Miss Universe mishap, blending his family, and owing the Internal Revenue Service $20 million. Steve uses these uncomfortable moments to explain his core principles and teach you what it means to JUMP:

  • Identifying the lesson and the blessing in all that life brings our way
  • Isolating particular moments when we must be still and when we must take action
  • Implementing "humble aggression" to achieve our dreams
  • Placing past mistakes in our rearview mirror and creating a fresh life story
  • Letting go of people who are weighing us down
  • Taking responsibility in the face of adversity

At the heart of this mesmerizing listen is faith - the confidence in knowing that leaping will elevate our lives and that we will be caught when we fall. Don't stand on the cliff of life and watch others soar by, Steve tells us. If you take a leap of faith, God will open your parachute and "give you life more abundantly".

Life is an incredible journey. It's not good enough to exist; you need to live. You need to JUMP - to take a leap of faith, a risk toward the rich life God has planned for you.

A good read into Chapter 12: the last chapter

I loved his ability to tell his story. It sounds inspiring. Filled with food for your thoughts and motivational words.

Chapter 12 was all about Majorie. So perhaps something to skip after about 2 minutes of it.

Said Harvey's voice would have more of an impact however Mike Hodge did a good job.

Good Story

I liked the book, great inspirational moments, but why on earth would one of the most charismatic men in showbusiness not narrate his own tale? Let's the book down a little.

I wish Steve read it

As an entrepreneurial, I loved the motivation to Jump. I was one of the millions to share you video because I was so inspired. My only wish for this audio book was that it was read by Steve Harvey himself. The inflection in his voice can't be replacated and I felt it was missing something without it. Otherwise, I loved it.

Great content!

Awesome content, but there is too much first person for Steve Harvey to not be the narrator.

Inspired Again...It's not too late

Thank Mr Steve Harvey for sharing your words of wisdom. Your book has inspired me to follow a dream totally unrelated to my current job that has laid dormant in my heart for over 20 years. It may look crazy to some and foolish to others but I am going for it!! Ready, Set, JUMP!!

more of the same

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Because it was just OK, nothing outstanding.

What could Steve Harvey have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Probably nothing. I have read so many retreads and that what this seems like, nothing could have made it any better. For those who don't read a lot this may be very insightful and inspirational, me not so much.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Mike Hodge?

Steve Harvey

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Yes, for those who need inspiration
