Summary

In a post-apocalyptic world, the earth is divided, and magic rules all, the strongest of which is about to be challenged.

For centuries, Jinn has watched from afar as the powers-that-be fought to claim a part of the world as their own. With no stake in the game, the djinn remained a powerful but neutral party. That was until an old friend presents Jinn with an offer he can’t refuse. The love he thought he’d lost forever is still alive, and he has the map to her location.

Mike wants his people freed from the slums, and Jinn has the power to make that happen. In return for his aid, Mike will lead the quest into the darkest corner of Earth to find her.

With a new player on the field, everyone is on edge and for good reason. Jinn will go to hell and back for the woman he loves, and he’ll destroy anyone who gets in his way.

Jinn is the first book in Djinn Rebellion, a paranormal urban fantasy series by USA Today best-selling author Jessica Cage.

If you like powerful men, second-chance love stories, and epic fight scenes with dragons, well, you’re going to love Jinn. Get the audiobook today, and find out just how far Jinn will go to save the woman he loves!

I enjoyed the story not the narrator

It was at times very hard to tell between the heritors. He really could have done a much better job by differentiating the voices.

A narrator can make or break a book.

I couldn’t finish it. I may use this book to fill my time between other series. I would suggest listening to the sample before you purchased this audiobook. I was looking forward to listening to this book but the narrator is not very good. Mr Toles has a nice voice but his delivery is flat and lost my attention. The cadence of his words are so robotic that it’s distracting to me. I’ll have to switch over to the Kindle version and read it myself.

The story was great, the voice actor wasn't

I'm totally pulled into this world created by Jessica Cage, but I had to stop listening to the audio and read it on my kindle. There was no change in character as the actor was narrating so the dialogue was melding into each other making it hard to distinguish characters. There was not any action voiced for the parts that needed it. His voice would raise but somehow stayed flat. I'm disappointed I purchased the 2nd audio book at the same time. I'll just skip that and read it.

Anyway, the book was a great read, I've become a fan and will be reading the rest of the series. :)

unlistenable

I'm not going to finish this. The performance is terrible. The story might be ok, can't tell.

Jinn

There is a lot of world building and character introduction. I found it all very interesting, but something just didn’t really click with me. The narration was to flat for me. I think I would have enjoyed the story more, had there been more energy and emotion in the delivery.

I did find the story interesting and I am curious to see where this series goes.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

My new favorite author and series!

This was the first time that I have ever read or listened to a book by Jessica Cage. I was not let down at all. The narrator brought this story alive. I have not read or listened to a paranormal or dystopian fantasy that featured this much diversity. This story was so great to listen to. It is a story about love and how far one will go. Jinn is a genie and he will stop at nothing to find his love. The story features a variety of characters from genies, witches, fae, dragons, fairies and even mutants. We are taken on an interesting journey and learn the backstory of how Jinn became a genie. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Great Book with a Great storyline

I really enjoyed listening to this book! Its been a book I’ve been looking forward to starting. From beginning to the end I was able to see the imagery created from the words spoken. Looking forward to more!

I should’ve followed the advice of others.

I was looking for a new author to fall in love with. A friend recommendedJessica Cage. Unfortunately, Audible did not have the book my friend read so I thought I would give Jinn a try. From the very first paragraph Kenneth read I was miserable. Instead of returning the book, I decided to power through. The story wasn’t bad. Unfortunately, Kenneth’s cadence threw the book off. My advice, read the book yourself. Do not get the Audible version.

Sigh

I really wanted to like this book. The premise is interesting but the characters and the story fall flat. I just couldn't buy into the world created and thought that the story wasn't coherent at times. Kenneth Toles didn't hurt or help the story. He has a nice voice but his is flat.

Good story, dull narrator.

I couldn’t finish this audiobook so I marked it as finished and will be buying the book itself so I can finish it. I don’t like to be negative towards narrators because I know it’s not easy work, but Kenneth needs to add more to his narration if he’s going to voice fiction. I couldn’t tell who was speaking, what was dialogue and what was action, and his monotone narration made it seem like he was very uninterested in this story. Audiobooks are all about the story and a narrator can really make it or break it. This story is amazing and hooks you in right away, so I hope he works on bringing Jessica’s characters and worlds to life. Sadly, I won’t be purchasing the other other Cage audiobooks.
