Great book

This is a well written book that should easily give a beginner a good solid foundation, and a seasoned coder a good refresh and probably pick up more information than they had before

Great book if you want to learn coding!

I just finished chapter 4 and wrote my first program! Highly recommended. The narrator sounds like a robot when he reads the code, but its better than reading a textbook.

Too fast and too much for beginners

I really want to learn JavaScript, and use online courses by The New Boston now to do so. I thought by listening I'd have some real pearls stick in my brain. I had to stop listening. It was way over my head, went to fast, and left too many terms undefined. In my opinion, this title is not for beginners- at least not this one. Learning is subjective, many times, so I am not dissing this book, but merely warning you to listen to the sample first.

On the right path!

I keep hearing all the time that tech is where it's at for jobs and I regret getting a useless degree in English. I'm terrible at math and I was really scared to start coding because I thought it would be too hard, but I tried this book after setting up my workstation and I found it really easy to understand and work through! By no means am I ready to start applying to tech jobs, but I can definitely say that I at least understand WAY more about it and most of all I do have confidence that pursuing something like this isn't completely out of my grasp. I'll definitely be looking for more from the author.

Very good purchase

At first I thought having the narrator read code was a bit odd, but sitting down listening to it in front of my laptop while coding, I found it incredibly useful to be able to type as I listened versus having to glance over at a book, which has always broken my focus a bit in the past. After this experience, I now prefer listening to code as I practice over other forms of practice

Not a Beginner book

Being a beginner this does not tell you what you need to know to start in fact if you have been coding for a while the book is instruction on stuff that you already know. they do not break it down to make it easy to understand what you need to know to work yourself into coding and if your not actually reading it or dont know what the keyboard prompts are you will be lost

Perfect for beginners!

I wanted to expose my 16 year old son to something that would help instill some valuable skill in him, and I thought coding would be really good. He was reluctant at first, but I sat down with him as we listened and he was able to understand and follow the steps the narrator was telling him to take. I personally have no knowledge of anything this is about, but my son was really happy after he went through it and has even started listening and practicing on his own now! I think this was a good choice for him!

Great and very informative

"I've listened to other books on the topic and honestly, I couldn't even finish them because the narrators would be so boring I felt like I was falling asleep. I really appreciate the narrator having a bit more skill in making what could be dry material a bit easier on the ears. He sounds like a friend giving you advice, not your college professor at the front of a lecture hall."
