A great set of 3 books on Japanese legends

This is a great selection of Japanese myths and legends. I don't think you have to listen to the first collection, as I haven't and didn't feel like I'd missed a beat.

There are a lot of short tales which are great for commutes or walking around, and some longer (but not too long) which I liked to listen to in a warm bath - it must have gotten me into the spirit of the Japanese islands!

Highly recommended.

Enjoyable Tales for quiet time

The stories and the myths are really interesting, but quite complex and even though background information is provided they are sometimes difficult to follow. This is definitely an audiobook you need to sit back in a quiet environment and listen to properly. I often listen on the go, so my attention can be divided, and I miss some of the detail required for the story to make sense.
The narrator got the tone right for a storyteller sitting around a fireplace with an attentive audience, but a bit too monotone for casual listening; so again something to bear in mind when listening.

I stopped about halfway through and will save this for quiet, relaxation time, because I feel I will enjoy these fascinating tales much more when I can immerse myself fully into them.

I received this audiobook as ARC and am leaving this review of my own volition.

My favorite one!!

I been fond of Japan since I was a teenager. I used to study a bit the Japanese Language very years ago (dont aks how many, please!) and I already knew about Lafcadio Hearn and I actually admire him.

I can Just say this audiobook is completely amazing in content and performance. I loved the annotated Edition about history of Japan and the author's Lives. The narrator performance was really nice and well done.. And the stories.. there is nothing as frightened as japanese ghost stories. We can learn so much about the deepest of human soul through japanese folklore visión.

I didn't know the other authors but hearing their works was a great surprise to me.

=)
