About this listen

Ivor the Engine is set in the picturesque Welsh countryside, where Ivor, a small steam engine, works for The Merioneth and Llantisilly Railway Traction Company Limited. His driver, Jones the Steam, is his loyal companion, and together they deliver goods and navigate the charming Welsh valleys. Ivor, however, has a dream beyond hauling cargo: he wants to sing with the local choir.

After much searching, Ivor finally acquires a set of new whistles, allowing him to play more than just a single note. The excitement builds as Ivor tries out his new whistles, each producing a different sound. With the support of Jones the Steam and the villagers, Ivor is one step closer to joining the choir, and his musical dream feels within reach.

This audio book tells the story, taken from the very first black-and-white TV series broadcast in the 1950s. Created by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin, this wonderful series remains a timeless favourite, remembered by generation after generation.
