Summary

Ever wondered what sort of a police officer you might make?

Alfie Moore spent 18 years on the Humberside police force before turning to stand-up comedy. In each episode of this live stand-up show, he takes his audience through a scenario based on a real-life case and tasks them with deciding how they would have acted in the circumstances.

From drink driving to a missing gnome, road traffic collisions to the tricky subject of Stop and Search, not to mention a case in which you must imagine what it would be like if Bruce Lee came from Scunthorpe and had been hammering the kebabs for 20 years....

Along the way Alfie spills the beans on what it's really like to be one of Britain's finest, tells us some great anecdotes about law breakers and makers that he's come across and gets his audience to divulge secrets about their own, sometimes less than strictly law-abiding lives.

The funniest radio programme since Cabin Pressure

This is something so different from the usual radio so-called comedy programmes. It is stand up with a personality all of its own. I laughed from beginning to end. If you are looking for something way out of the ordinary that is genuinely funny with no smut or blue jokes then look no further. Alfie Moore has found a format that is a sure fire winner! I really hope there is more to come, but like Cabin Pressure and Fawlty Towers, it may be better to leave it where it is and end on a high.

A diamond in the midden

I’m amazed that this series got past the Radio 4 commissioning editors and their apparent obsession with deeply unfunny London-centric media-luvvy programming.

It stands out from the normal Radio 4 fare because:

1. It is actually very funny and isn’t afraid to challenge the audience’s preconceptions (maybe “The Now Show” presenters could learn something on that front).
2. Perhaps not unrelated to point 1, it has a distinct Northern sensibility - Alfie draws upon his working experience in Humberside and mercilessly makes fun of the Met police.
3. The frequent interactions with the audience are brilliant and Alfie lets the public show how funny they can be.
4. Whilst you’re laughing you also learn a lot about the law and the difficulties of trying to apply it in real life situations.

To sum up - a diamond in the midden of Radio 4’s usual comedy output. Who’d have thought that there was life and license fee payers north of Watford?

Best sort of humour - laughter and shocks.

Love Alfie's old style whilst pointing out the correct way to behave in today's world (and taking the piss out of the Met.)

Very good

I came across this on the radio and bought the series, its very dry humor and very suited to someone that's from a police/military background.

An hilarious look at our legal and moral integrity

Brilliant listen, which had me laughing out loud at times. Knowing people who worked for GMP, we appreciated Alfie's comments about the Met.

Hilarious, more so as the story is true, and the delivery is spot on. I really hope there are more in this great series. I will watch out for more, diligently.

A light hearted look at the law by a policeman

It's a light hearted look at the police and the constraints of the job and the expectations of the law.

If you like British comedy - listen to this

A collection of BBC Comedy Podcasts (each episode is about 25-35min long) this series is so incredibly funny you will frantically search for more content by PC A Moore.

Factual and funny (I mean laugh out loud madly funny...), each episode walks you down the decision tree of missteps and discretion a police officer makes every day.

I can not recommend enough, and as a bonus fact if you like this, search for the podcast “No Such Thing As A Fish”
