The Silverback is considered the undisputed king, a creature whose authority is never challenged and who does not yield to compromise. Story
Looking back at his journey to adulthood, Iain explores why millennials are the way they are - and whether that makes us self-obsessed, work-shy, mollycoddled egomaniacs or just a misunderstood generation with a crippling fear of failure. Millennials have been celebrated and scorned; they’re the envy, fascination and disgrace of the world. But is there more to this #selfie- and avocado-obsessed generation that can’t grow up than meets the eye?

Story
In his first memoir, Josh Widdicombe tells the story of a strange rural childhood, the kind of childhood he only realised was weird when he left home and started telling people about it. From only having four people in his year at school, to living in a family home where they didn't just not bother to lock the front door, they didn't even have a key. Using a different television show of the time as its starting point for each chapter, Watching Neighbours Twice a Day... is part-childhood memoir, part-comic history of '90s television and culture.

No Shame is a very funny, candid and emotional ride of a memoir by one of our most beloved comedians. The working-class son of a coach driver and the youngest member of the Noel Coward Society, Tom Allen grew up in '90s suburbia as the eternal outsider. In these hilarious, honest and heart-breaking stories Tom recalls observations on childhood, his adolescence, the family he still lives with and his attempts to come out and negotiate the gay dating scene. They are written with his trademark caustic wit and warmth, and will entertain, surprise and move you in equal measure.

At the age of 9, Romesh Ranganathan delivered his first ever stand-up set at a Pontin's Holiday Camp talent competition, smashing the only other competitor, a young girl playing the kazoo. The gig went so well that Romesh retired his comic genius for 22 years, hiding behind the guise of a maths teacher, before finally revealing himself again (no, not like that) at the tender age of 31. In 2010, Ranganathan staged his epic comeback gig to an almost silent room, and has since gone on to earn his place as the most in-demand overweight vegan Sri Lankan comedian in Britain.

Michael’s first book ended with his big break at the 2006 Royal Variety Performance. Waking up the next morning in the tiny rented flat he shared with his wife, Kitty, and their one-year-old son, he was beyond excited about the new glamorous world of show business. Unfortunately, he was also clueless. In A Funny Life, Michael honestly and hilariously shares the highs and the lows of his rise to the top and desperate attempts to stay there.

As far back as he can remember James Corden has only ever wanted to be in one place: in front of you, doing something to make you laugh, cry, shout, or giggle uncontrollably. At the age of 4, he grandstanded throughout his baby sister’s christening, standing on a chair in front of the whole congregation, pulling faces and cracking everyone up. Despite himself, the vicar was impressed. And from then on he couldn’t get enough of the spotlight, even when it always seemed to avoid him. Throughout his teens, he and his Dad trudged up and down towards London....

Narration declination

Summary
As a 17-year-old virgin working...for Virgin, Joel Dommett has grand ambitions. Firstly, he is going to swap suburbia for the bright lights of showbiz. Secondly, he is going to find 'the one' - and sets himself the very achievable target of finding her in the first 50 people he's definitely going to sleep with.
What follows is a series of disastrous romantic encounters, including carpets mistaken for toilets, futile grand gestures and the catfishing to end all catfishing.
Featuring genuine teenage diary entries and told in Joel's trademark self-deprecating style, this is the brilliant first book from the UK's most exciting comedian.

Totally relateable
Any additional comments?
I have read nearly 300 books and only two have left me compelled to write brief review.
After two weeks of work and life stress resulting in a very grumpy old mare I bought this book as I love Joel on telly and it truly cheered me up.
Joel has managed with this book to take the reader on a nostalgic journey filled with charming and at times moving tales that anyone could have experienced.
I clearly have no idea how to write a review but trust me when i say it is just a light, funny, funny book.
Joel, thank you on behalf of me children for jolting their mum out of a funk.
Congratulations on finding the one and sharing the love. xx

I love him even more now!!
I fell in love with Joel the moment he stepped into the jungle!! & after listening to this I love him even more!! This book just reinforced my ideas about him……that he’s a funny, humble, down to earth, genuinely nice bloke!!!
This book had me laughing out loud in some parts & grinning like an idiot to myself in others! Being exactly 2 years & 1 day older than him (a fellow Gemini!) I could completely relate to some of his nostalgia (virgin megastore, fun house, 90’s fashion etc). The narration was great…..well, it felt like Joel was just chatting to me! Which made for easy listening!!
I highly recommend this book, whether you are a fan of Joel or not!!!

Excellent
I love comedy gigs, films, tv shows etc, but I rarely laugh out loud, however this was my first ever audio book and I listened to it in the gym (pre Covid) and I can’t tell you how daft I felt so many times when I found myself laughing out loud! I knew Joelbefore but I truly started following his career, I feel invested in his career! Like watching a child leave home! It’s not like I can relate to his sexual exploits - usually disastrously, being a 58 yr old grandmother, but that didn’t matter, I ha e recommended it to so many people.
