Summary

In Xanth, everyone has a talent. But that doesn't mean everyone loves his talent, and no one understands that better than Hapless. Endowed with the ability to conjure any instrument he wants, Hapless could be an extraordinary musician if only he could play a tune that didn't fall ear-piercingly flat. His one desire is to find an instrument he can play. When the Good Magician hears about Hapless's desperate desire, he sends the young man on a quest to find the elusive Isis Orb, a magical talisman that could fulfill his wish. Setting out to achieve the impossible, Hapless meets an eclectic mix of creatures that join him on his journey, all with wishes they hope the Isis Orb will grant.

Great story... But!

Great sorry as always from Piers but please please never do try to do a British accent again! That was painful.

Xanth

Xanth is a wonderful series of books! I have loved them since I discovered them in my uncles bookcase at 13 years old. Ever since I have made sure to read each novel when it comes out. Piers Anthony is a wonderful author who, I believe, is underrated. If you haven't started reading or listening to his novels I strongly recommend them. My first was "Man from Mundania". Brett Barry was a wonderful choice of readers. his voice is easy to listen to. I wish he would read the entire Xanth series, including the ones that were recorded in the 80's. Give this book a shot! You will love it!

So Boring!

I remember reading the first 20 or so Xanth books and really enjoying them. But I think Mr. Anthony has taken this as far as it can go and beyond. And not in a good way. I really wanted to like this one, and I will at least try the next cpl of books. Maybe this was just a bad one.

Average

If you are offended by anything in a Xanth novel, this is clearly your 1st time reading any of the books. If you really wanna be offended in today's modern times, by a fantasy novel, read any of the books in the Gor series. By John Norman.

This author is always a hit.

I love this author, but the narrator was too nasally and monotone for my taste.

The book was great

The book was great but the Person reading needs to work on how to read a book and using voice for other characters I wish they had more of the Xanth Serses available

Great book BUT TERRIBLE AUDIO BOOK NARRATOR

Piers Anthony is fantastic as always and Xanth comes alive in this novel. Unfortunately, if you listen to it on audible, the audio book narrator's voice is fine for men, but TERRIBLE FOR WOMEN. Every woman character's voice is a new version of nasal terrible. It's so bad that I'm not sure how I'm going to make it through the remaining 9 hours... Hate to miss a good book and waste a credit for this.

Another great Xanth book and the narrator is great too. He really brings the characters and story to life.

the narration ruined it for me

I love the xanth series. ogre, ogre was the first novel I ever read, and I've never read a xanth book I didn't love. I hadn't read this one before, and it was like, one of only a couple xanth books on here so I got it, but the voice was so irritating and unlike how I read them that I couldn't get through it at all I am actually really sad about it I don't mean to bad mouth the narrator I just really couldn't deal with it

Poor narration

Read way too fast, and his character voices could be hard to understand. Can not recommend this audio book
