Mainly about polyamory from a lesbian perspective which is interesting but I wasn't expecting it to be so heavily weighted towards a lesbian viewpoint.

I am a male Polyamorous person so that's why I gave it a lower than perfect score. If I was a lesbian it might have been full marks as it was well written and read.

This book concentrates chiefly on lesbian relationships, which is fine for me. Very interesting to hear how universal some relationship pitfalls and patterns are for a lot of lesbian relationships.

I got very confused in the last part of the book when Rosie jumps from one of her relationships to the other. I could no longer distinguish Jen from Sarah or Alice. I listened to the audiobook. Maybe there’s a relationship diagram in the book 😉

The narration was annoyingly monotonous after a while, which I found surprising considering Rosie is a stand-up comedian.

Wilby's beautiful narration takes the listener along a fascinating journey along the complex issue of relationships. It's cleverly given me a deeper empathy and understanding that relationships are never as straight forward as they often appear.
I've laughed out loud and been moved to tears.
A fabulous book.

Rosie Wilby is the nuanced, poetic and open minded voice needed to bring the discussion around non-monogamy into the mainstream here in the UK.

I was excited to hear that Louis Theroux would be doing a BBC documentary around the 'altered state' of non-monogamy. However I was massively let down by what was produced. The documentary was trivialized caricature to the point of parody. That is not to say that these caricatures do not exist but equally hilarious structures of monogamy exist e.g. couples where one is obviously unhappy, or where one is obviously cheating or where they are unsuitable to the point of corrosive to a family. One could very easily make a documentary detailing the hilarious dynamics of many monogamous relationships.

Wilby does not seek to do this, despite herself being a hilarious comic. The hilarity with which she writes, although shining throughout the book, never denigrates the topic. It is served with a David Gray level of emotional exploration and sentiment.

The question mark in the book's title cannot be stressed enough. The book takes us on an emotional journey of self reflection through Wilby's romantic peaks and troughs, mirroring a novel in style as she contends with the question, 'Is Monogamy Dead?'

This book is not espousing non monogamy as THE option for everyone. Wilby does not play pontif. I think the author might agree with me that most people would not suitable or even capable of the challenges that come with various structures of non monogamy...but that doesn't mean that there shouldn't be a range of other options on the menu as regards relationship structure, just like there are multitude of options for sexuality.

The modern discussion around non monogamy is getting there and it's because of books like Rosie Wilby's skillfully asking the questions.

was a enjoyable read, and as an autobiography it was good. however it would've been nice if she went deeper into different forms of relationship structures and was maybe a bit less biographical. maybe I should've read up on the book before reading, but I was hoping for something a bit more informative. but regardless, still a good listen.
