Summary

Your personality is a gift, not a liability. This book helps you uncover and embrace the hope, laughter, and joy of using your unique gifts to parent your children.

Life as a mom is loud, but you long for quiet.

When the volume of family life clashes with your personality, frustration, guilt, and overwhelm naturally result. In Introverted Mom, author Jamie C. Martin lifts these burdens from your shoulders, reminding you that your steady strength is exactly what your family needs in this chaotic world.

Jamie shares vulnerable stories from her own life as well as thoughts from other introverted mothers, letting you know you're not alone. Her practical suggestions and creative inspiration are enhanced with quotes and insights from four beloved writers - Louisa May Alcott, Jane Austen, L. M. Montgomery, and Laura Ingalls Wilder. Together, Jamie and this band of fellow introverts share their wisdom on:

  • Believing that you're enough
  • Self-acceptance that leads to freedom
  • Navigating heartache and disappointment
  • Stretching out of your comfort zone
  • Connecting with God as an introvert
  • Cultivating calm wherever you are
  • Defining for yourself what really matters

Whether you've just realized you're an introvert, or if you've known it all along, this book is for you. It's time to honor who you are and savor life as an introverted mom.

Not for the secular or non-Christian introverted Mom

Since I am familiar with the author’s worldview, I did not expect this book to be entirely secular. Although, I currently identify as a humanist, I was raised Christian so I thought I’d give the book a chance because I am an introverted mom. While there were some general ideas for all introverted mom, the author primarily returns (in the first 4 or 5 section, that’s as far as I got) to a verse of scripture she personally finds helpful in the overwhelm she feels as an introverted mom. It got to be too much for me, so I exchanged the book. Looking for other books, I noticed on Amazon the description indicates the book is from the Christian worldview, but I don’t see that in audible’s description. Reviewing so other non-Christian mommas are aware of the heavily focused Christian content when considering this book.

AMAZING view into an introverted mind!

I loved this book it spoke such truth over my struggles as an introvert. I highly suggest reading if you are an introverted mom struggling with guilt at not getting it all done and feeling selfish when you need time alone. this gave me such a breath of fresh air!

Connection and Understanding

I breathed a huge sigh of relief while reading this book knowing other mothers experienced extraordinary similar lives as introverts. I'm grateful that this books brings to light the naturalness of introverts and allows us to connect...that we are all created with beauty and purpose.

Should be called The Christian Introverted Mom

While I can relate to much of this book, I am not finding it helpful. I can't make it past chapter 4 as the author seems to have one solution to everything: faith in the Christian deity. I had hoped for something more practical.

An inspirational piece that I keep and read again and again

Wonderful book for any mom but especially introverted ones ! This book touched my heart so many times and gave me new hope ! Loved the references of scripture and the author’s overall choice of words and her ability to tell stories! Really drew me in till the end! I am both inspired and grateful for her messages of truth and kindness to other moms.

Understand myself better

This was perfect for learning to understand myself as an introvert and a mom and why I react certain ways. It has been helpful to know that it is a part of who I am and I need to include certain things in my life and exclude others to have the peace I'm looking for in my heart and in my home.
