Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Deanna Chase comes the third book in the Crescent City Fae series.

Willow Rhoswen is finally coming to terms with the fact that Talisen - the healer she thought was the love of her life - has left town and is trying to move on when a rogue vampire poisons three of Allcot's guards. With his most trusted security team on the verge of death, the notorious Cryrique leader orders Willow to bring Talisen back to New Orleans before it's too late.

But when she gets to her hometown of Eureka, California, Willow once again finds herself the target of her brother's murderer. And suddenly no one is who they seem. With spies, secrets, and undercover missions to navigate, Willow's determined to not only survive but to do whatever it takes to protect the ones she loves, all while hopefully getting her happily-ever-after.

Entertaining

Plenty of action and twists to keep my wayward attention! The crew is back as well as the paranormal politics. The characters are likable and entertaining. The storyline is interesting. The narrator did a great job. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Willow still sucks

I hated Willow in the first book, but I foolishly hoped a miraculous character arc would find her a good personality. If you hope the same, go ahead and release that breath you've been holding. She doesn't grow at all. If anything, she just keeps getting rewarded for being a self-centered brat.

I think I hated her even more in this book than in the previous two. I actually kind of hoped the bad guy would finally succeed in killing her. She definitely didn't deserve either of the guys who kept inexplicably fighting for her.

She is always leading one or the other on, and then getting jealous over them even when they aren't the one she has chosen at that particular moment. And when it comes to the guys making mistakes (or, in some cases, just caring about her safety) she is always much more forgiving toward one than the other, without any discernible reason why.

And, despite her tendency to be all offended any time one tries to protect her (which she instantly reads as them trying to control her) the girl is terrible at taking care of herself. She is by far the dumbest of all the other characters. Even dumber than the toddler. Even dumber than the dog. And, speaking of her dog, he's fairly useless, definitely more of a vulnerability than an asset. Her wings are also pretty useless. All they seem to do is get bruised and banged up.

Now that I've ranted, I will mention that the plot itself was pretty good. It was just ruined by the absolute least sympathetic main character. Phoebe had much more potential for being interesting. Heck, even the dog would have made a better main character!

A great conclusion

This may have been my favorite book of the series. Willow puts her big girl panties on and starts fighting back more. I loved the conclusion of the story, I shall not give spoilers but it was great and answered a lot of questions. Though it left a few open if another book is written. I think I am going to have to restart the series because I enjoyed it so much.

Great conclusion. ❤️

The third book of the Crescent City Fae does not disappoint. Like the previous books we follow Willow in this crazy journey of hers. I absolutely loved this book. So much great things happens. This was the perfect ending to the book and I feel like the author did a fabulous job ending this series. It was bittersweet but I truly felt like everyone got their well deserved ending, especially David, Tal, Willow, and Beau.
I listened to the audiobook and I enjoyed it immensely. Highly recommend.
If you love the Fae and vampire world I would recommend that you pick this series up.

Wow!

This is the third book in the Crescent City Fae series and is full of action and suprises. Willow repeatedly shows how strong she is by believing in herself and not taking the easy way out. While she did not end up with the man I had been hoping for, she did get a hea with HER perfect match, so I can't complain. A great ending to a great series!
