Summary

When life turns up the heat, you have two choices. You can bend and break, or you can step boldly into the furnace and let your soul catch fire.

Into The Furnace explores the inner workings of bravery, hope, and passion. These themes are framed against the backdrop of the Badwater Ultramarathon - a 135-mile race across the hottest place on the planet, Death Valley. Cory Reese has walked into the furnace. He has faced adversity, both in running and in life. His book captures the essence of what it means to suffer, what it means to persevere, and ultimately, what it means to create a life of clarity and purpose.

Cory Reese Nailed It! 👍💪😎😁❤️

I just finished a great book, "Into the Furnace" by Cory Reese. Wow! I learned so much about the #badwater135 The way Cory weaved the history of Death Valley into the story is wonderful. The trials that accompanied those who braved it and the race are legend. A really awesome read. I know some of the people mentioned in the book. I even worked and ran with one of them! Bradford Lombardi. This book really attempts to convey the difficulty in even venturing there, let alone running it. Even so, you have to know there is no way, just no way to begin to understand the difficulty unless you go there. So many real, and great people and their stories are discussed. Check it if you want some inspiration. #4realz http://www.fastcory.com 💪😎❤️😁

Kada. Wyoming

Wonderful book. I so admired ultra runners and reading about Bad Water At the end of the book.... I love Cory’s encouragement, positive mental reenforcement getting to the finish line. Most of all the journey to get to that start line of any race.. is so true. And Cory thank you for writing this book. I’d also like that hug you would give. I run St George Marathon maybe I could stop by and get the hug or even a handshake. 😉

Inspiring book

I listened to this book while marathon training. During one 20 miles run this book helped het me through some tough miles knowing I was not suffering nearly as much as Corey! Loved all the history and background provided as well.

Good story

This book was pretty good. I would have liked more detail of what went on during the race, but overall a good ultra book.

Excellent and inspiring read

What a great inspiring story. Badwater is dream of mine and the details about logics but also what goes on in your head are, while daunting, a reminder that it is indeed possible when you put your mind to it.

another great read from Cory

I so appreciate Cory sharing his humble, thoughtful perspective on distance running. It is a refreshing alternative to many of the self promoting works you see in the space.

Awesome book of adventure

I am crewing for the first time at Badwater 135 in July 2019 and wanted to read this book to see what this crazy race is all about. Corey made me feel that I was a part of the race and couldn’t wait to turn the page to see what happened next. It was tough to put down and now I feel that I will be a better crew member. Thanks for writing this book.

absolutely loved it

I'm a budding ultra runner. and badwater is pretty much at the top of my list as the "I wish I could do it one day" list.

Cory did a fantastic story at not only relating his personal story but also setting the stage to what badwater is.
