The Reese's Book Club Pick
A New York Times and Amazon Top 10 Bestseller

'An achingly romantic, compulsively readable love story - with chemistry that burns up every page'
TAYLOR JENKINS REID

'The truth is there's no such thing as a normal life. There's just the time you get and how you spend it.'

In the summer of 2000, seventeen-year-old AJ dreams of being a writer far from her small town. Working in a video rental store, her life changes forever when Noah walks in.

Noah is intense and enigmatic, the youngest in a family of great actors. Despite wildly different upbringings, the two forge a deep bond first as friends, then as acting partners, until the day Noah disappears without a word.

Seven years later in New York City, AJ is shocked to find herself cast in the same intergalactic TV production as Noah, by then a well-known Hollywood heartthrob. As their on-screen characters grow closer every day, the lines between reality and acting begin to blur.

Unable to stay away from each other, AJ and Noah are forced to confront the truth of what happened years ago - and the devastating secret that will send their lives careening apart, even as fate continues to draw them together.

Blending explosive chemistry, devastating emotion and unforgettable characters, Into the Blue  is an extraordinary novel that asks: What does it mean to diverge from the script to write your own story? Perfect for fans of Taylor Jenkins Reid and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow.

I listened to this after it was on Reese Witherspoon's book club and I'm so glad I did. Such an easy listen on audio and I got very absorbed into all the characters and storyline.

Buckle-up and enjoy!

3.5⭐ (audio version)
This is an accessible quick read that sticks firmly within the plot framework of a contemporary romance.
Julia Whelan's narration is excellent.
First person narrative, from the POV of AJ who meets Noah at 17 then it follows the ups and downs of their relationship over 17 years.
The setting is fun: acting together in a geeky unscripted sci-fi series. Inevitably they part and reunite over the years both with secrets and miscommunication.
There are a few moments of interest but, for me, the pace plodded and I started skimming / speeding to push through. AJ is not a very likeable character, which didn't help engagement.
A particular disappointment for me was that themes of Disability were presented within narrow stereotypes - an opportunity missed to offer more progressive views.

For lovers of traditional contemporary romance.

Something about this book was just so beautiful. And hopeful! And real. And human. And magical. I really loved it.

The cortisol spikes I was subjected to while reading this book were insane. Can't wait to try the author's other books.

What a ride

One of, if not THE best audiobook I’ve listened to. Such a beautiful story but Julia Whelans narration really made it magic. All the stars!
