Summary
Der depressive Sebastian Bergstein begibt sich widerwillig auf die abgelegene und unbewohnte, schwedische Insel Tjårsön. Dort soll er der Seebestattung seiner Stiefmutter beiwohnen. Mit ihm reisen seine Halbgeschwister, zu denen er seit Jahren keinen Kontakt mehr hatte, sowie deren Ehepartnern, ein missmutiger Teenager, ein Kleinkind und der Hund Tango.
Vor Sebastian liegt eine scheinbar endlose Woche, denn die Fähre mit der sie hergebracht wurden, kommt erst in sieben Tagen wieder vorbei. Bald schon kommt es zu Spannungen in der Gruppe: Ehekrisen, sexuelle Spannungen und alte Feindschaften bestimmen die Atmosphäre. Plötzlich verschwindet der vierzehnjährige Jonas spurlos. Es stellt sich außerdem heraus, dass die Verbindung zum Festland abgeschnitten ist. Ist einer von ihnen dafür verantwortlich, oder sind sie doch nicht allein auf der Insel? Wenig später macht Sebastian eine entsetzliche Entdeckung.
