About this listen

Two teenagers go missing on the same day. Just a coincidence?

They are from very different backgrounds: Yasmin is the talented, grammar-school-educated daughter of devout Muslim professionals. Ricky disappears after storming out of his council house after an argument with his mum's latest boyfriend.

DI Mariner knows Ricky's mother from his days in uniform. He is furious when his superiors take him off Ricky's case and reassign him to the more politically sensitive investigation.

The press - and his bosses - are convinced Yasmin's disappearance is a racially motivated abduction. Her family has been the target of a far-right group. But Mariner soon discovers Yasmin is far from the innocent victim her parents think she is.

Can he get to the bottom of a perplexing case where no one is what they seem?

I liked the way in which the main characters on the police force were given backgrounds leaving the listener with a good understanding of their motivations.
There could have been a little more tension particularly at the end.

I became involved with the characters and the story tellers voice was easy to listen to.

Worth a listen . Takes you backwards and forwards guessing who the killer is. I enjoyed it, kept me entertained

Another goodie

5*

This has more twists, turns and multiple threads that combined seem excess over the top yet are brilliantly entwined and come to a more complex ending than one can think

This is the second installment of the DI Mariner series, it starts off with a young white lad who is known to Di Mariner and Tom is on the case. He gets pulled of the case by DCI Fiske in favour of a young Asian girl who is also missing. This decision by DCI Fiske will come back to haunt him.

This installment was much better than the first one and I am hoping this continues
