Summary
From the international bestselling M. R. Carey comes a thrilling tale set in the multiverse - the tale of humanity's expansion across millions of dimensions, and the AI technology that might see it all come to an end...
Infinity is only the beginning.
The Pandominion: a political and trading alliance of a million worlds - except that they're really just the one world, Earth, in many different realities. And when an AI threat arises that could destroy everything the Pandominion has built, they'll eradicate it by whatever means necessary, no matter the cost to human life.
Scientist Hadiz Tambuwal is looking for a solution to her own Earth's environmental collapse when she stumbles across the secret of inter-dimensional travel. It could save everyone on her dying planet, but now she's walked into the middle of a war on a scale she never dreamed of.
And she needs to choose a side before it kills her.
Discover the start of the thrillingly original, mind-bending SF duology The Pandominion, from the author of the million-copy bestseller The Girl With All the Gifts. Perfect for fans of The Space Between Worlds, The Long Earth and Children of Time.
Critic reviews
"Infinity Gate is a powerful exploration of the near-future, skilfully and seamlessly weaving different realities and different iterations of AI... Carey has the experience, imagination and verve to pull it off. A compelling entry and a must-read!" (Tade Thompson, Arthur C. Clarke Award-winning author of Rosewater)
"M.R. Carey is a master of imagination and suspense." (Gareth L. Powell, author of Embers of War)
"A dazzling speculation on the many ways our world could have evolved, layered inside a thriller that will make your eardrums vibrate. I was charmed, disturbed, and fascinated by turns - and I couldn't put this book down." (Annalee Newitz, author of Autonomous and The Terraformers)

A really fantastical story constructed in a way to make it completely believable with great characters throughout
The over use of the " pronoun " ET inparts of the story was a bit annoying

Good but…
No doubt Carey is a skilled writer but, whilst this is another fascinating and entertaining conceit, I do wish he’d tamp down on the woke agenda. I’m sure he’ll be lauded for it in certain quarters but I just find it a jarring distraction.

Some interesting ideas, but…
The narrator does a good job. I get it. I enjoyed the idea and concept more than the story. The story just didn’t deliver on the possibilities. Shame.

It’s ok, not as good as Koli series but with the same problems.
I would set my stall out in reviewing this to say I like Mike Carey back. Anyone who read the Felix Castor series will know what I mean. MR Carey seems to be the product of an author who has had his work run by several ‘ sensitivity readers ‘ then had the ‘inclusion police’ make all lead characters non white. Does it matter if the story is still good? Yes to me I like to be entertained not preached to.
As a book it is decent enough as a sub par/lower level Iain M Banks. If only Iain was still around.

Just brilliant
This book is like all his books, always something unexpected. I am sad that I have finished it. I love the concepts and analogies to our modern world(s). Is this where we are headed?
Great characters and gripping from start to finish. I look forward to his next book.

Really enjoyable
Multi dimensional travel to the same planet - really nice!! Existentialism surrounding advanced AI - beautifully managed. Great characters, strong visualisations. Loved it!

So many interesting concepts
A wonderful story, fabulous characters, and the story never goes where you expect. Such an interesting take on so many things we take for granted.
