About this listen

A Small Town, Cowboy, Friends-to-Enemies-to-Lovers, Standalone Romance from USA Today and Amazon #1 Bestselling Author, Laura Pavlov.

Wren Waterstone isn’t just one of the most decorated equestrians in the world—she was also my best friend for as long as I can remember. Until she wasn’t.

Now she’s back in Rosewood River, and thanks to a temp agency, Wren has been placed at my ranch. I have no intention of allowing my ex-best-friend to work for me, but when I see the desperation in her eyes, I can’t turn her away, even though I know I should.

Old habits die hard.

Seeing her every day is more challenging than I expected. She’s guarded. Wounded. And she looks at me like I’m the enemy. I need to know why. The more time we spend together, the more the lines between past and present blur—and we find our way back to one another. The only problem is, she’s got big dreams to chase.

And I only want to chase her.

I’ve loved this girl my entire life, and our time apart didn’t change that. I let Wren Waterstone get away once. Am I really going to make that mistake again?

**This is book 5 in the Rosewood River Series. Each one can be listened to as a complete standalone. A HEA is guaranteed!**

From the first sentence of this book, I was hooked. I love a good love story, and this one is all that and more. Wren and Axel were best friends all of their life until a night that changed everything. Wren left and never looked back. But now she is home, recovering from an injury and a betrayal like no other and finds herself working at a temp agency, placing her at a job at Axel's company. Now the two find themselves together all the time, and the friendship flow comes back whether they like it or not. They are each other's soulmate and no matter what has happened, their love prevails. But is that enough? The family drama, the need to literally get back on her horse, to enjoy her time at home with the friends she has gotten close to and the Chadwick family all bring out the best in this story. Laura Pavlov hits all the feels and still brings the sage advice of Beefcake to give the necessary clarity. I love this series, the crossovers, the amazing characters and how I feel when I am listening. It's fantastic!

Samantha Brentmoor and Alex Knox push all the right buttons with their fantastic narration. Wren is filled with all kinds of emotions and each one felt with Brentmoor's voice. Knox brings a feeling of warmth and his feelings are all on his sleeve. I loved this casting, their voices perfectly fit the characters and made me fall quick for this couple. Amazing narration.

So good, I love this one!

📖 THIS BOOK! Laura’s friends to lovers stories absolutely slay me! I adore this family, and then we add in a competitive equestrian girlie! Wren is who I dreamed of being when I was little. But dang did she have it rough with her family… thank goodness for her lovely horse and her wonderful bestie turned mmmhmmmm!! Axel Chadwick is such a sweetheart. Manly and rugged, hell yes. But also tender and caring with his girl. They were adorable. Laura really nailed the right amount of equestrian detail for me to feel like I was getting a bit of a treat with some stuff here and there, but without it sounding like it would be too much for someone completely new to horses. And obvi I LIVED for Beefcake’s little cameo. I can’t believe there is only one more in the series!!

🎧 Such perfect casting on this one, seriously!! I have only listened to Alex Knox once before and he has really blown it out of the water both times. He completely embodied everything I imagined Axel to be and really just brought the character to life for me. Samantha is always incredible and she didn’t disappoint here! Her and Alex’s voices complimented each other nicely. She has the ability to express emotions through her voice in such a subtle way that makes it feel so realistic, not overly performative, just human, really amazing! Amazing listen!

Who doesn't love a second chance romance?! I loved the dynamic that Laura set up for this book, having friends to enemies to lovers. It was so great seeing Wren and Axel back together and seeing them fight through their feelings for each other. They always loved each other, but life didn't set them up on the path either of them hoped for in love. Luckily they are able to get past the distance a couple years and Wren's work put between them and as always Laura gives us couples with great communication even if it takes a little bit to get there. This gave us a little bit of angst and such a sweet story. As always I love the family dynamic and seeing everyone in everyone's business. The narrators Samantha Brentmoor and Alex Knox were so great as Wren and Axel. This was such a fun listen and I'm hoping we get at least one more book from this incredible group of characters!

A great listen!

I loved their connection, friendship and chemistry! It was such a sweet and charming love story, with the perfect amount of angst.

The audiobook was amazing! Samantha Brentmoor and Alex Knox were perfect as Wren and Axel. They perform this book in duet-style narration and do such an incredible job. They embodied Wren and Axel so perfectly! The emotion they both brought to this book was so beautiful. I loved every single minute of it.

Laura Pavlov has outdone herself once again, penning another incredible novel set in her fabulous “Rosewood River” series, a captivating small-town romance that warms your heart. This fifth book in the series is Wren Waterstone and Axel Chadwick’s story, a story that stands on its own, but I highly recommend all the books that come before this because they are just as amazing, plus characters crossover into each other’s books and seeing them again is like seeing an old friend. Wren, aka horse girl, is an equestrian who has made a name for herself, winning competitions around the world, and an injury brings her home to Rosewood River to recuperate, but there is more to her story and her return. Axel and Wren were best of friends growing up, each other’s everything, until they weren’t, and Axel never knew why Wren stopped talking to him. He tried moving on, but his feelings for her had morphed into something so much more, but it was a missed opportunity that would never happen now. He started his own business, a successful business that has grown, and he is struggling to keep up with the growth, and when his employee quit, leaving him dry, he went to an employment agency to hire someone to run the office. Wren's showing up as the new employee took him by surprise, and he was not sure how he felt about it, though it did not take him long to warm up to her, especially after finding out all she had been through thanks to her father and brother. It was great watching these two rekindle their friendship and then open up to each other about what really happened two years ago. I loved all the layers of the story and how it all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, charming humor, witty dialogue, hilarious group chats, heartwarming moments, heartfelt emotions and a steamy romance. I love these characters, the camaraderie between them, and it was great to see Cutler again too. Laura Pavlov, thank you for another wonderful story, the laughs and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous audiobook listen performed in duet by the wonderfully talented Samantha Brentmoor and Alex Knox, who were absolutely fantastic with voicing the characters. Embodying their characters completely for a spot-on portrayal, with Brentmoor nailing it as Wren and Knox as Axel. Both were amazing at performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the ideal tone for the story, and they conveyed all the characters’ emotions in their performance, making you feel them all. These two are entertaining storytellers, and their captivating performance keeps you glued to the story.
