About this listen

Death reveals all truths....

Mystery author and sometimes amateur sleuth Christopher Holmes is settling into domesticity with his sometimes rival, sometimes nemesis J.X. Moriarity when he learns a body has been discovered in the backyard of his former home.

To complicate matters, Christopher's ex turns up accusing Christopher of doing away with his former personal assistant - the man for whom David dumped him.

It's life as usual at Chez Holmes. In other words...murder.

Kevin R Free is superb, reviving his role as Christopher Holmes and JX Moriarity. I couldn’t imagine anyone else doing such a great job with these wonderful books and characters. The book was a pleasure to read and listen to, suspense, romance, comedy, and automatic buy for me at any time. Long may this series continue. If you have already read this series you know what I mean, if you haven’t go start at ‘Somebody Killed His Editor’, the story grabs you from the first sentence and doesn’t let go!

Perfect

This is not my favourite story in the series but it is still entertaining and develops Kit and J.X.’s relationship further after the events of Book 3. Jerry, the super fan, makes another appearance and we also get to meet Christopher’s ex, David, who is introduced into the story as a consequence of the latest mystery to unfold Involving Christopher’s former residence. The story moved at a good pace and was enhanced by the excellent narration.

Excellent narration with good mystery

I'd already read and enjoyed the book, although I don't think it's the strongest in the series. The narrator does a solid job and actually made me feel a bit more empathy with Kit than I did when reading - I did feel he was a bit of a whiner! It's clear when the different characters are speaking, which I prefer, as it can get a bit confusing otherwise.

More of the same - which is a good thing!

A well written story with and interesting  concept.  The characters are likeable and the narration is very good.

Enjoyable Story

Sadly the last three Josh Lanyon books that have been released in audio have been terrible- despite the excellent narration. Gone is the sharp plotting and clever twists in the tales.
This story was so convoluted and the first few hrs was nonsense. There are some authors who lose their form yet have such a loyal army of fans that they still get 5star reviews no matter the lack of quality in the work. The narrator was super, its just a pity he had such poor text to work with.

What a lack lustre mess of a story
