I will be the first to admit that this review is definitely biased based on the fact that I listened to Hostile right before this. I actually had no clue this book was Nicole's first MM romance (clearly I have been unknowingly working backwards through her books), and knowing that now, it's definitely apparent.

That's not to say this wasn't an enjoyable listen, but the story itself wasn't quite as polished as I have come to expect from Nicole's more recent books. But if you want a relatively easy read or listen, with little to no angst that has:

-Friends-to-Strangers-to-Insta Lovers
-Rockstar/Sports Romance
-Second chance

And can cruise through some not-so-perfect parts, the HEA is worth it!

Immoral by Nicole Dykes is a MM romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Christian Black and Dash Coleman.

This is the third book of Nicole's that I have read, and it won't be my last. She does an amazing job pulling me into the story and making me feel what the characters are feeling. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Grady and Ryan. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Christian and Dash did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like MM romances, sports romances, rockstar romances, or contemporary romances.

Nicole Dykes combined two of my favorite romance tropes and then some, I favor rock stars and sports players, also favor friends to lovers, and second chances so I knew this book was going to be a winner, a grand slam of a winner. Dykes is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, the characters and storylines she created are interesting and original, the story grabbed my attention and captivated it the entire time. Grady Bell and Ryan Bailey have been friends for years, placed next to him alphabetically since grade school, and their friendship only grew stronger over the years. They had plans to play professional baseball together, but Grady, who excelled at everything he did, went another direction instead and signed with a record label. Things got awkward, at least for Ryan, the last time they saw each other Grady had planted a kiss on him, which he really liked, maybe too much, he realized he preferred boys over girls and knew that Grady was just into girls. After going their own way, Grady made it big in the music scene with his band Immoral and Ryan went to play major league baseball. And they meet again seven years later, Ryan is in the world series and Grady is singing the national anthem, except that is not where they meet again. Grady has to seek him out and goes to his home and demands that he let him in. Ryan has his reason for staying closeted, knows it is difficult to be gay in the sports world and he is not sure how receptive his teammates would be, so he just keeps it to himself and has flings sign an NDA. Grady has no problem with Ryan’s sexuality and the more time he spends with him again the more he feels drawn to him, in a more than friend’s way. This wonderfully plotted friends to lovers romance has the perfect balance of drama, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Nicole Dykes, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And the fabulous narration, Christian Black and Dash Coleman did an amazing job bringing these characters and story to life and did so with a complete understanding of the characters they were portraying, giving each their own voice, and were believable in every role they played. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this wonderful listen.

Ahhhhh! I loved Grady & Ryan SO MUCH!
In the last year, my horizons have really expanded, and I really started reading MM, so when I heard that the author was giving us a sports/rockstar MM, I KNEW I was gonna need to read it.
If you’ve loved any of her other works, it’s still her style, that twist of angst, and characters that practically crawl off the page and beg for you to love them.
I’m not one to say no to love, so here I am, embracing them with all of me.
