Summary
Arvid ist Schriftsteller. Das ist ohnehin schon ein Beruf, der einem Leben wenig Struktur bietet. Vor sechs Jahren sind seine Eltern und seine beiden jüngeren Geschwister verunglückt, nur der ältere Bruder des 43-Jährigen ist noch da. Aber auch der bietet keinen Halt. Arvid scheint seit dem Unfall nichts anderes zu tun, als über seine Vergangenheit nachzudenken, sein aktuelles Leben ist aus dem Ruder gelaufen.
Er will witzig sein, mit Frauen flirten, sich virtuos geben, und kämpft in Wirklichkeit ums nackte Überleben... Der norwegische Autor Per Petterson ("Pferde stehlen") beschreibt in geradezu entspannter Ruhe, wie sein Icherzähler ein Trauma langsam verarbeitet. Dies geschieht ohne jede Tragik. Der Roman liest sich wie eine leichte, verspielte Erzählung und wirkt dadurch viel eindringlicher.
