Nel complesso, è un’opera cardine per capire un popolo e il sentimento italiano durante l’unificazione, letta da uno degli attori italiani più capaci, il che porta il lettore a immedesimarsi nella stanca, orgogliosa e nobile vita di un nobile siciliano di fine ottocento.

I believe the performance of Toni Servillo was outstanding (I listened at 1.25 speed). I hoped I would have enjoyed more the book itself, but I found the pace a bit too slow, which is the reason why I only give 4 stars.
