About this listen

'Sensual, poetic, and full of delicious, excruciating yearning' Ali Hazelwood

Clementine Clark isn't looking for love. She's a talented singer, but she's set her dreams of stardom - and romance - aside to care for her ailing mother.

And then her best friend calls her with a life-changing opportunity: join Irish megastar Halloran on his first US tour as a backing vocalist. Clementine wants to reject the offer, but the pay would change her and her mom's life. Overnight, Clementine goes from serving enchiladas at the Happy Tortilla to belting high notes before a cheering crowd.

But the whiplash of trading small-town Texas for sold-out stadiums is nothing compared to the rush of performing with the enigmatic Thomas Patrick Halloran. Poet, introvert, and lyrical genius, Halloran quickly gets under Clementine's skin. The two couldn't see the world more differently. And yet, over the course of the next eight weeks on tour, the romantic rockstar might just strike an unforgettable chord in Clementine. But will it be enough for an encore?

A steamy romance of second chances, perfect for fans of Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover, What Is Love by Jen Comfort and The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jiminez.©2025 Kate Golden (P)2025 Quercus Publishing

This was a mixed duet style narration and I loved both narrators' performance!
IMHO their relationship needed a bit more depth and angst, nevertheless there were still some emotional and swoon worthy scenes! Spice was at 2,5/5 🌶️

This was amazing! Well developed characters, an engaging plot and brilliant writing that was funny throughout. Fantastic narration too, would highly recommend.

Why doesn’t this have a higher rating??

As I huge Hozier fan I did enjoy the book, but it was giving well written fan fiction instead of a book with characters that stand alone without the very obvious source material. The MMC almost a cartoon version of the inspo, the accent a little jarring at times because it wasn’t written very authentically. FMC a little better rounded because it was a new character and I wasn’t comparing her to the very real person that the main character is based after. The author used quotes and songs almost word for word. I wasn’t comparing distracting me from the story which actually was quite good. The MMC felt informed because it’s based on someone that is very private. Wish she’d have created a dual pov which would given us a reprieve from the FMC repetitive internal monologue. Overall is was an ok listen to wile away an afternoon

Good story if you’re a Hozier fan….

The tension in this book will have you gripping the nearest chair whilst also yelling "Just kiss her already!" Its a stunning slow burn Hozier fan fiction and sweeter than honey. This is the perfect rainy day Sunday audiobook to settle down with.

I need the narrators arrested. Or knighted. I genuinely can’t decide.

Eric’s voice in the audio is illegal. The groans, the breathy bits, the “good girl” that hit right before the eight-hour mark… I had to pause and collect myself like I’d been personally targeted. If you listen on headphones, my condolences. You won’t survive.

The whole performance amplifies the warmth, humour, and absolutely feral chemistry between the characters. It turns a charming Irish romance into a full sensory assault in the best possible way.

If you want to suffer beautifully, choose the audiobook.

Hozier-coded! And I loved it!
