as good as the ebook

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening

it's like a B

Love it

I'm happy to say this book did it for me. I tend to not read MMM or polyamory for that matter, because I'm afraid one of the guys will be a third will, so I'm very caution. This does not happen here.

The relationship between the 3 men was already established, not a romantic one, but they were all friends before being lovers. And that helped a lot, because they all knew each other and how much they like each other. Matt is straight, Connor is asexual and Seb is gay. The dynamic between them was amazing, they were scared, happy, confused, afraid, fulfilled. There is a good balance of comedy and angst.

The story was little dull when I hit the 70%, but then something happened and picked my interesting again.

Piers Ryman is a new-to-me narrator and I was afraid I wouldn't like him because of his thick accent (British I guess?). But I was wrong, as soon as I got used to his deep voice, I enjoyed listened to him. He made all the right pauses (thank god) and didn't rush the narration, I felt calm listening to him. Also he managed to make 3 different voices for the MCs, each one matching their personalities.

I was given this audiobook as part of a huge giveaway, but no review was expected from me.

Heartfelt & Saucy

Really enjoyed I Wished for You. I loved how it was told from the three guys perspective and the narration was vivid and characterful. Maybe at some places it was a bit too kitch for me, but apart form that I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the not so pg ventures into their sex lifes.

Wishing for more than friendship.

Three good friends who fall in love with each other. Seb, Matt and Connor have been friends for ages. While helping Seb celebrate his birthday, the 3 men make a wish that will eventually make them a throuple. It's a lovely story of friendship, love, loss and finding confidence.
OMG - I loved the narration. Piers Ryman really nailed the characters of each of the men: Seb the exuberant one; Matt, the solid one and Connor, the unsure one. He was great with the humour and the heat between the various couplings. I really enjoyed the narration, definitely a great way to enjoy the story.

I was lucky enough to receive this book on request. The opinions are freely expressed and without bias.

3 Friends Become Lovers in a Well Written Tale

Seb, Matt and Connor have been friends for years. Each is different in many ways. Matt is straight, Seb and Connor are gay, but one is afraid and the other recently dumped. They are all confused by recent happenings. One night, they decide to go camping, get drunk and share a kiss. A kiss that changes them all. After returning home, each realizes that the kiss was something special between all three of them, even straight Matt, who now realizes he wants these two men.

Well written and narrated, this was a solid tale of three men going through changes in relationships and family issues. Written very straightforwardly and smart, it is a realistic tale and definitely worth the listen.

Sweet, realistic menage

If you like friends to lovers stories, you'll love this book. It's a sweet journey of three lifelong best friends realizing they're in love and figuring out their life together. Low angst, plenty of steam and feels. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life and bringing the emotion when needed.

Great book!

I loved the progression of the relationship from friends to lovers. It felt realistic instead of rushed as many MMM books seem to do. All three MCs were a treat, and the narration was simply wonderful!

Friends to lovers a feel good story

I loved this story. This is a sweet story about 3 friends who grew up together. After a night of camping together, 2 kisses and a declaration of love that could've ended their friendship, the 3 friends discover they actually did want to explore a more sexual relationship. And after a near fatal accident they were brought together even more.
Narrator Piers Ryman does an absolutely amazing job. I highly recommend this book.

Nice Story, Piers Ryman is Wonderful

Collette Davison’s I Wished For You is the story of three longtime friends who discover their love for each other is just what they each need to move forward in their lives.

Matt is the steady man in the group, but looking for something steady in his life - wishing for a partner who will be as committed as he wants to be.

Dumped by his longtime boyfriend, Seb is nursing his wounds and wishing for something better than this.

Connor, after caring for his senile mother, has sworn off love and relationships - but he is wishing his life could be different.

When the three men share a kiss on a campout it brings up all kinds of emotions and starts a chain reaction which changes their lives forever.

A new narrator for me, Piers Ryman’s performance is wonderful in I wished For You. With three very distinct voices for three very different men, Mr. Ryman imparts very distinct personalities into each of these guys. Between the lighthearted moments and the heartrending ones, there are a host of human experiences in between and here is where this narrator truly shines.

Sweet story about a thruple ;)

I’m not usually a fan of M/M/M romance because a lot of authors can’t pull it off. Plus there has to be a certain suspension of disbelief that goes along with it—it’s just not as common as romance authors would have everyone think and basic human psychology would have more of an impact than what’s ever written...aka, jealousy would be a much bigger issue. However, jealousy doesn’t necessarily sell books, so I get it.

This story starts out with Seb being dumped by his long term partner and his friends hauling him out on a camping trip as a distraction. Booze and maudlin thoughts lead to kissing his best friends, which subsequently leads to the three of them confessing feelings about each other. Enter, thruple relationship.

I think the author did a good job with balancing their shared past and their changing relationship. It touched on the issues and reasons they individually were the way they were. I also like that Connor held himself back for a little while and didn’t jump into their relationship all gung-ho like the other two did. There were adequate smexy times sprinkled throughout the book (which I totally appreciated), but the part I struggled with was the “conflict for conflicts-sake.” Without spoilers, the first conflict seemed believable and something probably pretty common nowadays. The second part I felt was completely unnecessary and also something that wouldn’t be pushed aside as easily as it was. Like the dynamics of a M/M/M relationship, human psychology dictates that the aftermath would be quite different and a bigger hurdle than presented.

All that aside, this WAS a sweet book with less angst than I was expecting and was very well written. The narration was spot on (although it was a bit harder to differentiate each individual character—that might be me finding it harder to tell because of the accent) and it was the audio sample that had convinced me to try it in the first place. Sometimes good books are ruined by poor narration and I was satisfied with how this played out. Overall rating of a solid 4 stars and a book (and author) I’ll definitely come back to again at some point!
