Summary

Maci Bookout, the reality television megastar of Teen Mom and the New York Times best-selling author of Bulletproof, offers down-to-earth, practical advice on how to navigate life, love, and everything in between.

Since catapulting to reality TV stardom on the hit MTV series Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant, Maci Bookout has become a mother of three, a successful businesswoman, and a sought-after motivational speaker - all by the tender age of 25.

As she traveled across the country, speaking to young people and sharing her inspiring story, the one comment Maci kept hearing over and over was, "You're so strong. You make it all look so easy." But Maci was not born "bulletproof." She taught herself to be strong despite her struggles and to turn adversity into advantages.

In I Wasn't Born Bulletproof, best-selling author Maci shares with listeners the truth behind her Teflon exterior and offers fun, inspirational advice for everyone.

LOVE

Maci really shows the importance of family and everything else in life and has great quotes throughout to help. I love listening to her books because it gives you a sense as if you are having a genuine conversation with a close friend.

Absolutely LOVED IT!

Any additional comments?

I loved this book so much I sent it to two of my friends to read. I love all the life lessons and advice Maci gave, and eye opening ways of thinking about things. Worth the read, 110%.

Painful

I listened to her first book and it was actually pretty good. Her second book is painful to listen to. She talks VERY slow as to enunciate each word and it feels like she just reads quotes from other people most of the time and the other time she's giving her advise, which to me was lacking anything interesting. Bummed me out because I really do like watching her on Teen Mom and like I said before her first book was enjoyable.

Encouraging!

I have recently become a mother to a fantastic little one. This book was encouraging to myself as a mother and even to my husband who has had struggles with depression, anxiety, and the the need for others input in his life. I can already see a difference in our relationship and I'm so thankful for these stories to be the unexpected tool that they were.

Displeased and Disappointed

I had been a fan of Maci for many years, enjoying her clothing line and watching her on MTV, so I had been initially excited to find this audiobook and learn more about her. This book however, changed my perspective of how I see her, and sadly not in a good way. The content of this book, both the way it was written and how it was read, carried a condescending tone throughout from beginning to end, and I found it very difficult to finish. While she states to readers that people should refrain from passing judgments or feeling superior to others, she proceeds to contradict herself throughout the book as she makes negative comments and heavy handed critiques of anyone who does not have a fully realized and/or self sustaining career. I was expecting an inspiring reflective memoir type of read, but was instead disappointed to find this book was filled with nothing but simplified quotes from others and belittling thoughts of her own.
