About this listen

A 5-year-old boy, Ethan, is brought to Casey in the middle of the night after the sudden death of his young mother after a drug overdose.

Estranged from her parents, Ethan’s mum had been abused by her ex-partner, and began taking drugs to cope. Ethan is obviously lost and bewildered, and regularly wakes up screaming for his mum in the night. He begins to lash out at other kids at school and his behaviour becomes more volatile. I have now enjoyed four books by Casey Watson, this being the fourth. Love her natural gift of helping and caring for these children so in need of love, attention and care. It was interesting how the general system works and how it can be improved and supported by amazing decent foster families like Casey’s.

I always enjoy reading Casey Watson's books & lately listening to her books.But following Ethens journey to a loving stable home gripped hold right to the end .I didn't want her to stop telling us how he was doing.I really would love to know how they all are today 2025,,as this little boy & his journey with his family left me wondering if Ethen & his dad made it His dad buying a home of their own together.No other book has left me wondering like this. As for Casey & Mike they are just an amazing & loving couple who as you read her books you can feel the love & care they have for every child they foster & for their loving family.I recommend all of Casey Watsons books so if you want a book to read pick up book number 1 and after reading it you'll be gripped &will leave you wanting to read the rest

this is the most amazing story I'm laid in bed at 5.30am couldn't turn the phone off so I've listened to this book all night long... casey and Mike r amazing I wish they'd been my foster parents. this story is one of the best I've heard for a very very long time
