Summary

A gripping story of friendship and betrayal from international best-selling author Adele Parks.

This audiobook includes an exclusive interview between Adele Parks and Badass Women’s Hour’s Harriet Minter. Keep listening after the credits to hear them explore the characters and themes within the book and talk about everything from Adele’s writing process to the biggest twists and turns in I Invited Her In.

I invited her in...and she took everything.

When Mel hears from a long-lost friend in need of help, she doesn’t hesitate to invite her to stay. Mel and Abi were best friends back in the day, sharing the highs and lows of student life, until Mel’s unplanned pregnancy made her drop out of her studies.

Now, 17 years later, Mel and Abi’s lives couldn’t be more different. Mel is happily married, having raised her son on her own before meeting her husband, Ben. Now they share gorgeous girls and have a chaotic but happy family home, with three children.

Abi, meanwhile, followed her lover to LA for a glamorous life of parties, celebrity and indulgence. Everything was perfect, until she discovered her partner had been cheating on her. Seventeen years wasted, and nothing to show for it. So what Abi needs now is a true friend to lean on, to share her grief over a glass of wine, and to have some time to heal. And what better place than Mel’s house, with her lovely kids and supportive husband....

This dark, unsettling tale of the reunion of long-lost friends is thoroughly gripping exploration of wanting what you can’t have, jealousy and revenge from Sunday Times best seller Adele Parks.

Bit obvious

I guessed the twists well in advance so it was a matter of waiting to see how things played out. I didn’t find much to like about any of the characters but the story held my attention.

Don't waste your money

This has to be the most predictable, obvious and yet still ridiculous story, and I have read a lot of books!!!!

Loved the narrator

Lovely listen due to Joanne Froggatt but the story is predictable and in places extremely unbelievable. Wouldn’t recommend.

Intriguing

What seems to start as ‘mutually supportive old friends ‘ story unravels gradually revealing layer after layer of secrets, deceptions and well meaning, but flawed, intentions. It is right up to date with the downsides of social media and smartphones but also deals with timeless emotions- parental love, jealousy, and revenge.

Too predictable

As always, the perfect performance from Joanne Frogatt. The story was good, but way too predictable. Enjoyed it all, but needed more suspense and surprises.

Narrator excellent

Joanne the narrator makes this an enjoyable escapist chick flick with a few twists but nothing too taxing. Loved it.
