Summary

When college student Jake is left for dead on the side of the road, he has one thing on his mind: Learn to defend himself against the men that gay-bashed him.

And fight back or die trying.

At his sister's suggestion, he tries self-defense courses. Little does he know when he asks the man to teach him, he'll be guarding more than his body, he'll be guarding his heart.

Aspiring MMA trainer Benjamin is on his last leg, literally. As a wounded warrior, he's scarred from a broken heart that has nearly broken his spirit.

So when Jake approaches him for lessons and tells him his story, it touches his heart.

The more time Jake and Benjamin spend together, the more they realize they're becoming best friends.

The more time they spend together, the more they realize they can't live without each other.

The more time they spend together, the more they realize they're falling in love.

But Jake has a secret, one that could change everything....

They're step-brothers.

Any additional comments?

This is the thing, the main character is in college and the narrator sounded like he was in his 60's.

So, the narration turned from mediocre to awful when he'd tried to sound young and a lot of the dialogue was a young guy speaking; a voice that sounds like an elderly speaking the dialogue of a young guy just ruined the story. 💔 And the sexy scenes definitely didn't work AT FREAKIN ALL!

A younger narrator like Michael Stellman or Michael F. Would have raised the level of entertainment for this story.

BDSM (Dom/sub) Indecision and Sex and more Sex

It takes the main characters over 7 hours of narration to make a decision meanwhile still not knowing if they belong together there is chapter after chapter of highly erotic sex. If you like all sex an no story I Got You is the book for you.

Second Thoughts

My second time through was better than the first. The story and overall impression is that it is an okay story. I don't think that it is the best in the genre, but a lot had to do with the delivery. Accidentally reading it has changed my perspectives.

Nothing to keep me reading

DNF as I was well into Chapter 5 and nothing had sucked me in yet. The first few chapters of any book are very important and there is no depth in the characters.
The narrator is not a fit for this book. Maybe horror or westerns but not gay romance.
Don't waste a credit.

The narrator was terrible

The characters were 24 and 20 years of age but the narrator sound like an old smokers voice. It was terrible narration.

Great Listen

Really enjoyed the story. Took me a minute to get to the narrator. Something about his voive had me picturing both Ben and Jake as a lot older. His performance was good and smooth just had a hard time with his sound.

Nothing like a bad narrator to ruin a book.

Could have been a decent book, but the narrator was bad from the get go.

Wrong Narrator

I really wanted to like this book. The plot, I thought, was very interesting. However, the narrator sounds like a grizzly old man. A complete turn off of what I thought the age of the character(s) should be. Disappointing.

very good story

it wasn't as good as mark roeders story's but it had a small hidden message. one I could only wish everyone could see an hear. that message was "ACCEPTANCE" an I wish all who listens to this story an other's like it would learn. being gay bi transgender doesn't mean we are different it means we see an feel love the same as hetrosexuals do .

Narration needs improvement

I felt compelled to try it based on the cover - yeah, yeah, I know. True to the idiom, the book doesn’t live up to the cover. First, we’ve all seen overacting, but I’ve never encountered over narration until now. His effeminate voice was too high pitched. His alpha-esqe voice was too low, which is not necessarily bad; it’s the low voice coupled with the excessive inflection that lowers the overall performance. Second, the character’s name is “Benjamin,” not “Benjermin.” Oh my gooood - it drove me to distraction!! Third, I could’ve done without references to “man milk.” I think my rating is generous.
