About this listen

'A modern twist on a detective story, which totally captures this strange digital age we live in' OENONE FORBAT, author of Bad Influence

An influencer, a dead body and a live stream . . . Mona Hendricks may have just met her match.

Detective Sergeant Mona Hendricks has a lot on her plate. Divorce, bills, an obnoxious teenager. But she has no idea what's coming . . .

'Mum, I need to show you something'
A video. Big red letters in the corner.
@MaybeKylie is LIVE

Alerts slide over the screen. One after another after another. The viewing numbers soar. Her daughter's favourite influencer, Kylie May, has just found a dead body and is streaming it to the world.

Two duelling investigations begin as a rivalry between seasoned detective and ambitious influencer grows: one using good old-fashioned police work whilst the other's sensational tactics hog the spotlight.

Nine years later and the murder remains unsolved. But comment sections never forget, forcing the notoriously self-interested Kylie to make Detective Hendricks an offer she can't refuse . . .

A brilliant and pacy debut featuring a fantastically crotchety female detective reminiscent of shows like Happy Valley contrasted with the sassy ingenuity of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, all mixed with the modern and slick black comedy of Killing Eve.©2025 Becky Brynolf (P)2025 Bonnier Books UK

The characters in this book are truly interesting and really came to life. I was so invested that my heart was actually racing when they were in danger. The dynamic between mother and daughter in two separate timelines was so realistic and believable. I love a good puzzle and this one kept me guessing til the very end. BB drip fed just enough clues that I thought I knew what was happening, and then was shocked at how much more intricate things really were. By the end, I was palming my forehead because I'd missed more subtle hints. This is definitely a book I want to listen to again. And with KS's narration... it will be an absolute pleasure!!! Can't wait for the next Becky Brynolf to be published!!!

Totally gripping. Twists and turns at every corner. A lineup of suspects fed my curiosity throughout. Shocked at how the story ended - genius! Kylie’s followers gave me insight into a whole new world - a clever device to move the plot on. Superb characterisation - use of humour made them human. Loved ‘I Found A Body’ - look forward to Becky Brynolf’s next book.
