Summary

Wall Street Journal best-selling author Ilsa Madden-Mills returns with an all-new swoon-fest of a novel about what happens when you look beyond labels and take a chance on love.

Badass Athlete: I dare you to...

Delaney Shaw: Who is this?

The late-night text is random, but "Badass Athlete" sure seems to know who she is...Delaney Shaw. Good girl. Lover of fluffy kitties and Star Wars. Curious.

His dare? Spend one night in his bed - a night he promises will be unforgettable - and she can solve the mystery of who he is.

She knows she shouldn't, but what else is she going to do with her boring Valentine's Day? One sexy hookup later, her mind is blown, and the secret's out.

Maverick Monroe. Bad boy. The most talented football player in the country. Just ask him. Too bad for him that Delaney's sworn off dating athletes forever after her last heartbreak.

But Maverick wants more than one night and refuses to give up on winning Delaney’s heart. She isn’t one to be fazed by a set of broad shoulders.

Will the bad boy land the nerd girl, or will the secrets they keep from each other separate them forever?

A must read! Maverick is swoon-y af!

This was a quick day listen and I loved everything about this one. Ilsa is a go to author I love. She balances the humour, quirky and emotions so well. Maverick was so much deeper and swoon-y than I expected. His dedication to his sister warmed my heart through. I could easily be besties with Delaney. Her character is the easy kind I can relate to on so many ways. And in years to come I’ll remember Hans solo and oh that Jedi moment!!
Both narrators brought the characters to life.

Good start, but fell flat and corny

People are asking what’s missing, and all I can say is chemistry and character development. It’s just a basic corny story that needs less predictable fluff and more delectable meat.

It certainly had potential, but it’s given me a bad taste in my mouth. I may try another work by her someday, but not anytime soon.

Disappointed 😞

I really loved the cover of this book so, I decided to listen to the audio. The narration did a good job. The story was predictable. I was waiting for something to happen for this story to become more but, it never did. IIsa wrote characters that I liked but, just didn’t really get to show some sort of depth in this story. This is a sports romance.

Enjoyable

This was a fun but very predictable and standard type of romance book. I thought this was a cute story of a nerdy college girl and the football star of the school. I liked both Delaney and Maverick and thought their personalities were the perfect blend. It intrigued me that it was so easy to assume they would have nothing in common but as they got to know each other you saw that wasn't really the case at all. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that wanted a fun college romance to read about. I'm not too sure what's going to come next for this series but I can't wait to find out.

This book was included in the escape package!

4 You're Everything STARS

Having sworn off football players Delaney rebuffs Mavericks advances. She's been heartbroken before and doesn't want to do it again. She's looking for someone different, at least that's what she tells herself. Maverick is cocky but there is so much more to him as you get to know him. He was really a great guy and I loved how much he cared about his sister. Delaney is a nerdy girl who loves cats and Star Wars and someone you'd want to be friends with. Nothing is ever easy when the heart is involved and with Mav keeping secrets from Delaney will she be able to forgive and move on? You gotta listen to find out! Overall I really enjoyed this college romance and I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

Narration was great!

Good Read

This story reads good, narrators are good. The main characters have great chemistry. Nice way to pass a couple of hours of good listening.

Well that went nowhere fast..

Decent plot. Started out well with potential but then it just didn't deliver at all. It went nowhere at all and ended up being a pretty annoying story I really only finished because I had spent the money on it. There was a lot of chemistry between the two main characters but the actual "scenes" were seriously lacking the chemistry. Disappointing.

4 Stars!

This was a fun read overall. I debated whether this was a 3 or 4 star story. I liked that there was a little mystery and a little angst. The characters were likeable and the story didn't meander or get off into the weeds. It did have some juvenile behavior on the part of some of the side characters. The main characters seemed to be written for their age group. Narration was primarily done by Brooke for most of the book.

Mav and Delaney

I really liked this book. It is a college age book with the star football player falling for the cute nerd girl. The synopsis gives the impression that Mav propositions Delaney into spending a night with him as a dare but that isn’t how it happens. It was a cute story and I like the banter between the characters but the synopsis does not match the story and I am not sure how to feel about that. I really enjoyed the book. I listened to it through Audible and the narrators did a great job. Like I said, this is more like they met and shared a kiss and then they end up leading separate lives for a couple of years until they meet again. She just got out of a bad relationship when a random number texts her (Mav) and they communicate for awhile. Then Mav starts pursuing her in real life and text but she doesn’t know it yet. Their relationship was cute and I really enjoyed reading/listening to the story unfold. If you are looking for a cute rom com then this is it.

Cute College Romance

I read this one years ago so it was good to go back and give it a listen this time. I Dare You is a cute and quick college romance with a little family drama thrown in. I love the legend of the first bonfire kiss and how Maverick waited years for his chance with Delaney! Brooke Bloomingdale and Lee Samuels did a great job narrating!
