Summary

Sexy Athlete: I bet you...

Penelope Graham: Burn in hell, quarterback.

The late night text is random, but Penelope figures out exactly who “Sexy Athlete” is. And why she shouldn't take his wager.

Ryker Voss. Football star. Walks on water and God's gift to women. Just ask him. His crazy bet? He promises Penelope he’ll win her the heart of the guy she’s been crushing on. His plan - good old-fashioned jealousy. Once her crush sees her kissing Ryker, he'll realize what he's missing. Sounds legit, right? The only question is...why is Ryker being so nice to her?

Penelope Graham. Virgin. Lover of sparkly vampires and calculus. His mortal enemy. Penelope knows she shouldn’t trust a cocky jock, but what’s a girl to do when she needs help getting a date? And Ryker’s keeping a secret, another bet, one that will destroy Penelope’s heart forever.

Will the quarterback score the good girl, or will his secrets mean everyone loses this game of love? This is a full-length stand-alone sports romance with a swoony, heartfelt HEA. You do not have to have listen to I Dare You first.

Fab story

Loved the story and enjoyed the narration, but both narrators struggled with Archer’s accent! However, on the whole, enjoyed both their voices. Stella had a great voice for comedy - she had great timing.

Popular author but new to me

My book babe said this is a must author and so here I listned and while I have no complaind it was a good story, it may be that college romance isn't for me.

I'll definetly check this author again this was a sort of not so liked acquaintance to lovers book where they crossed paths but didn't hold a friendship till the Hero decided to help the heroine with a crush, that's as all the spoiler I'll give.

Wow…loved reading I Bet You

Wow…Ryker and Penelope are a fantastic couple. They both seem to be dealing with a lot but together they slowly heal and comes to terms with their past. I Bet You is funny and has a serious side with past issues but I enjoyed reading and listening (love Kindles hand off feature) to it sooo much. Isla Madden Mills, author, created the perfect characters and background for Penelope and Ryker. I love reading books from authors like Isla Madden Mills who are able to write a book you can get lost into and can bring out emotional responses where the reader has a smile on their face or brings tears to your eyes. To me that makes me add them to my favorite authors list. This is the second book I have read from Isla and I have already put her in my list after reading I Dare You and I Bet you from the Waylon University series. I highly recommend I Bet You and the Waylon University series and Isla as an author. I plan on checking out more of her books in the Waylon University. Next two books that are in the series are I Hate You and I Promise You that I plan on listening 🎧and reading 📖. I encourage readers to check out all four books from Isla. You (readers) won’t be disappointed, Happy Reading!!

Poor narrators can ruin a book I loved when read

I can honestly say that every book Ilsa Madden-Mills has written that I have read first, I have absolutely loved. I made the mistake of not reading Not My Romeo first and just going straight to listening. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER. I could not have despised the heroine more. I guess reading her books first, I have the chance to love the H/h at my reading pace and hear their voices in my head in a tone that is pleasing to me. Had I listened to this book first I would have DNFd as well. A poor narrator can truly ruin a book. Not only did it have me intensely disliking the heroine since she sounded perturbed ALL THE TIME but I think Stella Bloom is a little over the age limit for a college student, the same goes for Mason Lloyd. I'm not sure if Ilsa had any say in who was chosen, if she did, I guess this is how she hears them in her head? I would not want a shrill shrew yammering at me all day that's for sure.

If anyone decides to give up on this audio book because of the narrators, I dont blame you. But don't give up on the book. Read it instead. This audio was even painful for me and I'm so glad I loved the story and characters first before this debacle.

I know I've listened to these narrators before and not had an issue when they were put with age appropriate characters. Mason is definitely suited for the 30+ age male. I've listened to him narrate multiple Nicole Snow books with no issues.

4 Baby llama STARS

Such a cute and fun story! The hero may come off as arrogant but he is secretly such a sweet guy. The heroine is feisty, smart and you will be rooting for her throughout the book. The side characters, including the bird are great. The epilogue had me laughing at loud. Ryker is such an amazing book boyfriend.

Narration was great.

❤️

Loved Penelope & Ryker. Didn’t feel like the male narrator matched Ryker but otherwise fun listen.

Lol Funny

It’s my first book by this author, but it won’t be the last. It was a solid love story with laugh out loud moments. I had people at work looking at me sideways. Loved it. Can’t wait for more in the series!

Not Bad

This was the second book I've read by Ilsa. I enjoyed Dear Ava quite a bit. By contrast this seemed a bit more immature even though it didn't have the peer harassment that was in Dear Ava, but it was still an enjoyable read. I enjoyed the plot including some initial twists that didn't seem predictable. The main charaters were likeable. I'm enjoying Ilsa's writing style and that the interactions feel realistic for the age group she's writing about (which she has some experience with since she used to be a teacher).

I would have chosen different narrators. They did a decent job, but sounded too old for the age target, especially the female narrator. I felt like I was listening to a woman in her 40s and that killed it a bit.

It was cute

I wouldn’t really call this an enemies to lovers but it was still a cute little read. Playful and very much cookie cutter boy meets girl and they fall in love with basic complications lol. Just a quick cute HEA to read if you’re at a book hiatus or need something to pass the time.

I Bet You

I enjoyed this book because it showed the maturity of the character in what he had to do so the young woman could see what she really wanted .
