When the human mind can be digitized into software, the concept of afterlife takes on a whole new shape–one that can be customized to the buyer’s exact specifications. Androids serve as a lifeline for the rich and powerful, a way to cheat death and live forever. But in Beta’s case, a body built for one mind is instead hosting three at once.

Now after earning a second chance at life, Beta faces the challenge of actually living. Her nephew sees her as a flawed experiment to be replaced. Her partner wants a closer relationship, and meanwhile the conflicting identities in her head can’t seem to get along. But when a terrorist leader kidnaps her sister, Beta has to put these conflicts on hold to mount a rescue mission.

It’s a race against time for Beta as she moves to hunt down the terrorist before anyone else falls victim to his plot. To find him, she has to navigate a turbulent world of artificial intelligence and generational brainwashing. All the while, a new threat lurks in the shadows, waiting for its chance to strike.
