About this listen

Pre-order BODY OF LIES, the brand-new thriller in the Kat and Lock series, coming Spring 2026.

THE TRUTH WILL ALWAYS COME OUT – BUT AT WHAT COST?

Fresh from successfully closing their first live case, the Future Policing Unit are called in to investigate when a headless, handless body is found on a Warwickshire farm. But as they work to identify the victim and their killer, the discovery of a second body begins to spark fears that The Aston Strangler is back.

When DCS Kat Frank is accused of putting the wrong man behind bars all those years ago, AIDE Lock – the world's first AI detective – pursues the truth with relentless logic. But Kat is determined to keep the past buried, and when she becomes the target of a shadowy figure looking for revenge, Lock is torn between his evidence-based algorithms and the judgement of his partner, with explosive results.

When everything hangs in the balance, it will all come down to just how much an AI can learn, and what happens when they do…

Great story

This is excellent. Superb and original crime writing enhanced by very fine narration. Having heard the first two in the series, I looked forward eagerly to this and downloaded it on release day. Great writing and audio. (Michael).

Superb and Original

I found this storyline less compelling than the previous two books. While I appreciated the development of the more minor characters and enjoyed watching their arcs unfold, the two main storylines felt implausible, with too many coincidences and unlikely events for the narrative to feel believable. That said, I did enjoy the twist at the end—it’s left me curious about what happens next. I’m hopeful that the fourth installment will draw me in more fully.

Not as good as the previous two

I generally enjoyed this book especially later in the recording when the narrator reduced her over fast delivery. The author has not avoided some of the cliches of the genre but her main characters are well drawn especially the AI detective. I found the ending over long and less convincing.

Interesting speculation about use off AI

I have read all the books now and have thoroughly enjoyed every single one. I have found my favourite author. As usual great story line, well presented and always keeps me gripped
