About this listen

Don't let your traumatic past hold you back—shed the chains of suffering and embrace newfound strength, peace within yourself, and a liberated spirit.

Would you like to leave your troublesome past behind and take a giant leap into the future? Millions around the globe grapple with similar difficulties, and a shocking survey revealed that well over two-thirds of young people had encountered a traumatic event in their teenage years.

It can be challenging to move past painful situations when those who caused them are your kin. Those you expected to cradle and shield you were instead your tormentors. The cycle continues, and if no action is taken, an intergenerational curse of pain and suffering will be unleashed. The wounds from the past are like a time bomb waiting to explode—further damaging future generations. You just need the strength to face your trauma head-on, be gentle with yourself, and be a supportive guide to reconnect with the child within you.

This indispensable guidebook will be your companion on the journey to rebirth, helping you reach new heights and achieve all that is rightfully yours.

In this handbook, you will discover:

  • How to reconnect and improve the relationship with your inner child.
  • Real-life anecdotes from survivors of childhood trauma–how they overcame great adversity and lived to talk about it.
  • Simple and practical tips to become more self-aware and discover the real you that lies within.
  • The power of words, and how you can use them to transform your life.
  • The cause–and effect–of your insecurity, fear, and anxiety, and how you can turn the tables.
  • How practicing self-forgiveness can take you a step closer to a better inner self–and how to make sure you don't lose yourself in the process.
  • Clear signs that your inner child is healing—and the best exercises to further accelerate the process.
  • How to cease negative self-talk and instead cultivate a kinder view of yourself, replacing self-pity with comforting acceptance of your flaws.

First off, I love this audiobook cover, as it encompasses the idea of the book.

Oh, and…!

Honestly, I think everyone could read this book and get something from it. It’s so easy to get in the grind of this world we forget to have fun, child-like fun. That child in you is looking to escape.

Oh, and walking barefoot…!

The practical ways in which we can unleash our inner child really stuck with me, such as digging in the yard, watching cartoons, or playing with toys. Also, the idea of writing about your experiences on paper. Kathy’s story really struck a chord with me.

Oh, and walking barefoot is amazing!

There’s a lot of great information and much more depth than I ever thought possible about this topic. Don’t mind me, I’m just unleashing my inner child and playing around! Definitely recommend this audiobook! Thanks, Lynette Alexander!

This author has put together a book that walks you through step by step of hot to help heal your inner child. As I listened to this book, I realized there were several pieces of my past that I needed to work on some closure for. In Chapter 4, which addresses breaking unhealthy attachments, I realized that I was carrying around some baggage from my past that I needed to let go of. By adding some closure, it helps you feel some new strength and a liberated spirit.

In high school, I was part of a pretty devastating situation and in listening to this book, I am realizing too how much that event has shaped my adulthood which in many areas has cast a shadow on my life. The author does a good job of guiding you through the journey so that you are able to address each chapter as needed before moving on to the next steps. ONe thing that has stuck with me is that just because trauma has happened to us, it does not define us. It is up to us of what actions we decide to take next.

I appreciate this author for the compassionate way they wrote this book as there are several traumas people could have encountered and the author is empathetic to those situations to prevent you from feeling more traumatized.

This book did a great job in discussing the impact of not dealing with the past trauma in your life. When the people you trusted were the ones who hurt you. Taking time to help reconnect with your inner child to help heal, and to forgive, is the key to overcoming and breaking the chains of the generational cycle from continuing. Very well done.
