About this listen

How do I start a business on a budget? How do I find my first 100 customers and make my first £100k? How do I build a network and get my business noticed?

Whether you want to transform a fledgling side-hustle into a full-time endeavour or simply have an idea that’s keeping you up at night, this is the ultimate blueprint for building your own business.

With no network, no capital and no previous experience, Nafisa built her business from scratch and has helped hundreds of founders to do the same. Now, she wants to share her honest, game-changing advice. From how to nail sales and branding to understanding how to build a network, Nafisa lifts the lid on business culture – and questions everything you think you know about the business world.

Critic reviews

‘Nafisa is a brilliant, incisive entrepreneur and How to Make Money is the handbook for anyone with a business idea and belief. Think of it as the best short cut you could ever take’
ELLA DOLPHIN, CEO of STYLIST

‘Straight-talking but highly emotive, How To Make Money provides superbly tangible insights into laying the foundations for your own brand playbook, via ideas that bust through the bravado and bluster of standard business talk’
KATIE BARON, author of FASHION AND MUSIC

‘Nafisa Bakkar saw a gap in the market for a website that curated modest fashion for Muslim women. She had £50, no experience and no network. Her business, Amaliah, is now pushing a seven-figure turnover. How to Make Money is Bakkar’s no-nonsense guide to all the steps it took, and the moments she nearly quit, with anecdotes from entrepreneurs such as Mohammed Khalid, who had an idea for a halal chicken shop, opened Chicken Cottage by the Brick Lane mosque, and now has 140 outlets – an underappreciated British success story’

This book has absolutely transformed my entire outlook and approach. As an Indian queer woman who has predominantly worked in the non-profit sector, philanthropy and lots of political community organising spaces- we NEED this book to understand how to be independent to the systems that keep our growth and evolution stinted and reduced to conforming to the systems of oppression we are trying to dismantle, influence and redistribute from. It can be applied to working on an international scale, and now a manual that I ride with everywhere I go. GET THIS BOOK

just really grateful for the depth, transparency, the ability to really make this world of building a business accessible. i actually liked it so much ive gifted this to 10 students during a master class on imposter syndrome because of how exceptional the insights are with so much considered words. if you are looking for something give this a try.

she touches on various other founders insights in a way which distills how success leaves clues. curating knowledge which every founder or some one starting a business would benefit from. some who i am now truly blown away by the likes of Ustwo founder Matt Miller. when i look at how his business is a b corp and howhes handed ownership back to his employees, the way he helped nurture and create incubators for those starting their own business's it really does blow your mind at what some individuals are able to do so much for those around them ad to reimagine how business can function.

The audiobook is through nafisas own words and a great listen, working in a full time role its hard to and time to read books but this has been my companion on commuting and while working
