About this listen

What brings us real and lasting happiness?

Although just about every marketing firm, self-help guru, and man on the street has an answer, very few, if any, understand true happiness. It doesn’t come from power, pleasure, popularity, or possessions. So, what is happiness and how do we find it?

In How to Be Happy, author Matt Fradd relies on the help of St. Thomas Aquinas to show what will - and what won’t - bring us happiness in this life.

By making the thought of Aquinas utterly accessible for today, How to Be Happy is an invaluable guide to a good life.

I listen to Matt’s podcasts religiously (pun very much intended). I am therefore used to hearing his energetic ways of telling a story. However, this book felt so personal, as if I really was sitting with Matt and drinking a beer whilst talking about Aquinas.

There’s something really special about this book. Listening to the very first chapter gave me the same feeling I got when I saw pictures of the Chiesa del Gesù — you kinda want to laugh and cry because you realize that although you don’t deserve any of it, God has given people such talent and allowed Himself to be found within art and philosophy. I feel spoilt to listen to this book and be so moved by Aquinas’ arguments and Fradd’s wonderful explanation and story telling

I’m not usually this cheesy — the book is just that damn good.

I am a philosophy student but have been disappointed by my university’s secular approach, however Matt has made Aquinas’ philosophy easy enough to understand whilst still being profound

It is also deeply moving to listen to it as a Catholic. It makes me proud and grateful for saints like the Angelic doctor, and his “wingman” Matt Fradd (again, pun very much intended)

Fradd has written & narrated beautifully. Get this book and get absolutely schooled in the best way possible!
