Summary

A group of strangers is pitted against one another in Matt Shaw’s latest extreme horror.

The game is simple. Each of the contestants is asked a question: How much to complete a certain task? They then have two minutes to name a price, but if they go too high and their fellow contestants are cheaper, they have just priced themselves out of the game. The trick is to go high enough to win a good amount of money but low enough to ensure you are the winner. By the end of the bidding war, the person who is the cheapest contestant has to then go through, one by one, completing the tasks. No backing out allowed now....

But who is running this game? And more to the point - why?

Warning: extreme content not for the easily offended.

Brace your gag reflex and enjoy - fantastic!

I received a free audio copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Wow! This gross-out story really tests your gag reflex to the max. Graphic in parts, this story asks that age old question of just how far would you go for money? And believe me, the characters here go pretty far - no bodily fluid is left untouched! Some might be thrown by the fact that the narrator is American whereas the story is set in the UK. Wasn't a problem for me. The narrator gave an excellent performance that really brought the book to life and the American voices he gave to the characters were spot on. Thoroughly recommended - but don't listen to it on a full stomach!

Grim

Had to take a break a few times as I was feeling queasy. This isn’t a bad thing, and it’s obviously the intention of the author. It’s a gross book and the story is good and well paced. I didn’t have an issue with the narrator not having an English accent as others have. I’ll listen to/ read more from Matt shaw.

Wrong accents

Although the narration of this book was good overall, I find it a very strange choice that the book is set in England but all the characters are given various American accents by the narrator.

Good stuff but..

The story was great, gross, thrilling fun but the narrator was American. While he wasn’t bad, his accent just didn’t fit a story set in the UK and using UK slang etc. He pronounced a lot of things wrong and it just seemed odd which took me out of the story somewhat.

Would’ve been better with a British narrator imo.

Still good though.
